In the opening scenes of the movie we see David enter his family butcher shop called Wozniak & Sons. He is then met by his brothers and his father who tell him not to forget the family jerseys for the photograph. Aleksy, one of David's brothers actually goes on to say that he will definitely forget the jerseys.

In the end, David leaves the jerseys in the delivery truck which is later towed away and the family ends up not getting their jerseys, except for David who is seen wearing his.

He plucks flowers from a neighbor's place and gives it to Emma, played by Cobie Smulders. She then goes on to question him about his whereabouts and why he hasn't called or texted. She later tells him that she is pregnant. She also asks him if he is hiding something in his apartment as he hasn't allowed her to come to his place recently. She then tells him that she is okay raising the child alone and doesn't think that he is reliable.

Later, David is shown talking to Brett, his friend and lawyer, about his wish to have a kid. This is a very funny scene. Brett's numerous kids walk out of the house to where David and he are sitting and get in the way of their conversation. His sons go and sleep in the sandbox and his daughter comes and keeps smacking his face, all while he is holding another child of his and trying to convince David not to have a child.

David enters the house and realises someone is there inside already. He picks up a baseball bat and enters with caution and finds a man in his living room. The strange man introduces himself as Mark Williams and tells David that he is an attorney who represents a sperm bank where David had previously donated his sperm 693 times, for which he was paid. He goes on to say that he is the biological father of 533 children and that more than a 100 of them want to see him. He also reminds David that he donated his sperm under the name of Starbuck.

Later, Brett and David are shown discussing David's situation in a donut shop. In this scene, Brett reveals to David that he lost his license to practice because of a bribery accusation. Brett then gives an envelope to David which he says has profiles of the 142 children who want to meet him. David goes home and opens it.

David first goes to see a child he fathered named Andrew, who is a professional basketball player. But he doesn't meet him personally but only goes to a game of Andrew's with Brett.

He then checks up the profile of a kid named Josh who works as a waiter. He goes to meet the boy and then finds out that his true aspiration is to be an actor. He then lends his truck to the boy for him to reach his audition and offers to stand in at the coffee shop for him while he is gone. The owner of the shop finds out and fires Josh. Josh comes back to David with the truck and tells him that he got the part. Josh is played by actor Jack Reynor.

David then goes on to check out more profiles of the children he had fathered.

Kristen is the name of another child David fathered. He checks up her profile and then goes to her apartment posing as a pizza delivery boy. He enters her apartment to see her having a fight over the phone about some money issue. He stays to ask her if she is okay but then goes into the room to find her almost overdosing on drugs. He supposedly calls an ambulance and goes to the hospital with her where he urges her to join a rehab program. She refuses to join even after David persuades her to. He then takes her home after she tells David that she works at Bloomingdale's.

He waits outside her workplace the next day to see if she makes it. She does and this pleases David. Kristen is played by Britt Robertson.

Answer: Starbuck kids

He follows one of the children he fathered to find out that he is gay and seeing many people at once. While continuing on the boy's trail, he ends up at a meeting where all the kids of Starbuck are present to discuss their on-going lawsuit. He gives an awkward address to the crowd in that meeting.

While leaving the meeting, he meets Josh, Kristen and a few other of his children all at once. He lies to them about him being the adoptive father of a mentally challenged child named Ryan, who he is also the biological father of. Outside the hotel while waiting for a taxi, he meets Brett who tells him not to do anything stupid and advises him to stop seeing his kids.

Answer: That he has a real family also

Viggo is one of the sons that David fathered. He overhears the conversation Brett has with David outside the hotel where the meeting took place and comes to David's house. He confronts David and tells him he wants to stay at his apartment for a few days. David gets annoyed with Viggo and is seen complaining to Brett about Viggo. Brett tells David to stick with it or Viggo might reveal his identity. David takes Viggo to play basketball with his father and brothers. Viggo urges David to come for another Starbuck kids meeting. Viggo is played by Adam Chanler-Berat.

David ends up going with Viggo to a camp where all the Starbuck kids have come. Here, David bonds with the kids by flying kites, grilling meat from his truck, singing songs around a campfire, etc. David then goes back to bring Ryan to the campsite. He then tells Ryan that he is his father, most probably knowing that Ryan won't be telling anyone.

Earlier in the movie, David tells Emma that he wants to be a father to the child she is bearing and she accepts his offer. He takes her to meet his family which includes two brothers and his father. His mother is already dead in the movie. Emma gets along with the family very well. David's father tells her stories of his mother and how David can actually be generous. Emma asks David how he managed to take his entire family to Venice when his mother was sick.

Andrzej Blumenfeld plays David's father, Mikolaj. Bobby Moynihan plays Aleksy and Simon Delaney plays Victor in the movie.

Earlier in the movie, David goes to Emma's first ultrasound appointment to show his support and sees the sonogram of the baby.

The thugs to whom David owes 80,000 dollars harass him earlier in the movie, at his place.

One day, while at the butcher shop, his brothers harangue David to return the money as the thugs harassed their father in an attempt to get David to pay back the money. David goes to meet his father but he shuns him away. David then goes to Brett and agrees to follow his plan of filing a counter-suit against the sperm bank. Brett previously advised this to David when the story of the Starbuck kids meeting up at the camp broke out on the news and the case became internationally known.

David tells his father about him being Starbuck. His father first laughs and then goes on to tell him it's okay. He tells David to reveal his identity. David tells him about his money problems and that he would lose the money he won in the counter-suit and not be able to pay the thugs back. His father agrees to pay the debt back and so David goes on Facebook and reveals to the Starbuck kids that he is truly Starbuck.

Emma then gives birth to their child at the hospital where his biological kids come to greet him after they find out that he is Starbuck.
