After the first battle, when the warriors ride in search of the Wendol, they come upon figures in the woods topped with bear skulls. Ahmed realizes that with the claws and the headdresses, the Wendol think of themselves as bears and they want everyone to think of them as such.

When Wigliff implies that Buliwyf is a coward, Buliwyf responds that the only exploit he can recall is that Wigliff killed his brothers.

Buliwyf - "I thank the lord for his advice. Though I don't recall hearing any exploits of his, apart from killing his brothers."

Hrothgar is the king that Buliwyf and the other 12 warriors go to help. Hygiliak was Buliwyf's father. We learn this when Hrothgar's herald asks for the warriors names. It is Hygiliak's funeral that Ahmed and Melchisidek walk into at the beginning of the movie.

Skeld is the warrior with the tattoo across his face. He is very superstitious and believes that the Wendol are demons. He dies in the first major battle against the Wendol. When trying to cut poles, Ahmed realizes that he cannot use the heavy Northern sword.

He asks for a metal worker and is directed to Skeld, who helps him turn the sword into a more manageable scimitar. The scimitar was a popular Middle Eastern weapon over a thousand years before Islam came to the Middle east.

Answer: Edgtho

Edgtho is keeping watch from a tree by the watchtower. When Ahmed takes him food and stops to make idle conversation, they hear the Wendol horn and see the "Firewurm". Strangely enough, the rope that Edgtho uses to reach the watchtower is nowhere to be seen before he slides down it.

Answer: The Wendol mother

The Wendol mother scratches Buliwyf with a poisoned claw before he cut off her head. Buliwyf does manage to kill the Wendol leader before he dies, thus ending the war. While Wigliff might like to see Buliwyf dead, he has no part in it.
