1. "The Jungle Book"

"The Jungle Book" was released in 1967 and is based on the book of the same name by Rudyard Kipling. It follows the life of the young man-cub Mowgli who was raised by wolves in an Indian jungle after being found as a baby by the black panther Bagheera. When the man-eating tiger Sher Khan returns to their part of the jungle, the animals know Mowgli is in danger because Sher Khan hates men. As Bagheera leads Mowgli to the man-village and safety, Mowgli meets many other animals and gets into some trouble along the way.
This was the last film Walt Disney worked on before his death. A live-action remake was released in 2016.
2. "The Hunchback of Notre Dame"

"The Hunchback of Notre Dame" was released in 1996. It is based on Victor Hugo's novel of the same name from 1831. The movie takes place in 1400s Paris, France. The movie is about Quasimodo, a deformed hunchback who is essentially kept prisoner in the Notre Dame Cathedral by his cruel master, Judge Frollo.
At the beginning of the movie, Quasimodo decides to sneak out to see the Festival of Fools where he meets a gypsy named Esmeralda. He soon becomes wrapped up in the lives of the gypsies and their struggle against Frollo.
3. "Tangled"

"Tangled", released in 2010, is a retelling of the Brothers Grimm story "Rapunzel". In the movie, Flynn Rider is a thief who steals a crown from the castle. While trying to escape from the palace guards, he climbs a tower where he finds Rapunzel, a girl with 70 feet of golden hair.
She knocks him out and hides the crown from him and tells him she will only give it back if he takes her to see the floating lanterns in the kingdom. Flynn reluctantly agrees and the two set out on an adventure and, per Disney style, fall in love.
4. "The Emperor's New Groove"

"The Emperor's New Groove" was released in 2000. It is about a young, selfish, narcissistic Incan emperor named Kuzco. After Kuzco fires Yzma, his advisor, she decides to kill him and become empress herself. However, she gives him the wrong potion and he is transformed into a llama. Yzma sends her henchman, Kronk, to kill him but he loses him. Kuzco ends up at the home of a peasant named Pacha, who agrees to help Kuzco return to the palace if the emperor agrees to not take Pacha's land to build his summer home.
By the end of the movie, Kuzco has become a better person.
5. "Big Hero 6"

"Big Hero 6" was released in 2014. The movie takes place in the futuristic city of San Fransokyo. The story follows the life of fourteen-year-old genius Hiro Hamada who is coming to terms with his older brother's death. When he rediscovers a robot named Baymax, who his brother had built before he died, he and a group of new friends become superheros with plans to capture a man who stole Hiro's microbot technology. Along the way, Hiro learns the meaning of friendship.
"Big Hero 6" won Best Animated Feature at the 87th Academy Awards.
6. "Atlantis: The Lost Empire"

"Atlantis: The Lost Empire" came out in 2001. The movie is set in 1914. It is about Milo Thatch who is trying to find the mythical city of Atlantis. When a millionaire gives him money to fund an expedition, he and a group of people set out to rediscover the amazing city. But, they find more than they expected. Somehow the citizens of Atlantis have survived in their sunken city for hundreds of years.
7. "The Black Cauldron"

"The Black Cauldron" was released in 1985 and is one of Disney's darker films. It is set in the Middle Ages. In the land of Prydain, the evil Horned King wants to use the Black Cauldron to create an army of the undead. Young Taran joins up with Princess Eilonwy and a creature named Gurgi to save the day.
The movie features magic, fairies, and witches. The movie is based on books by Lloyd Alexander.
8. "The Nightmare Before Christmas"

"The Nightmare Before Christmas" was released in 1993 and was created with stop motion. It takes place in Halloween Town, a city filled with monsters who create the holiday each year. Jack Skellington is a popular skeleton who begins to be bored of Halloween.

When the two toys get lost together, they must put their differences aside and work together to get back to Andy before he moves houses.

"Up" is a Pixar movie that was released in 2009. It is about an old man named Carl who has decided to visit South America like he had planned to do with his wife Ellie before she died. However, his means of doing this are unconventional to say the least. He ties thousands of balloons to his house so it can float away. Things don't go as planned, though, when the young Wildness Explorer Russell is taken along for the ride. In South America, they find a little too much adventure.
"Up" won two Academy Awards, Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score.
