You take 5 steps up to the first landing. You can see this more than one time in the movie, but the first time I noticed it was after the delivery (via window) of the angel statue.

2. What does Molly say that causes Sam to turn away from the Heavenly light that beckons after death?

Answer: "Sam, don't you leave me. Sam hold on!"

He stands in the street, as a ghost, undecided. He looks from the light, back to Molly and the guys trying to help his lifeless body, and then back to the light again. It is only after she says this that he finally turns away for good and runs back to his body.

3. Which character is the first we see in the movie?

Answer: Sam

Patrick Swayze's Sam is the first we see. He is removing the wooden canopy above his head to view the extra room above them.
Molly: "That's incredible. There's gotta be 7 or 8 feet up there."
Sam: "And 80 years of dust."

4. When Carl, Molly, and Sam are knocking over the wall in their new loft, what number does Molly count to?

Answer: 5

She does count to 5, but the wall begins to fall by the count of 4, so when she says 5 it sounds like a question.
