George Pickett commands one of James Longstreet's divisions. Pickett is rather eccenric and very passionate for the cause. Interestingly enough, Stephen Lang went on to play Stonewall Jackson in Ron Maxwell's "Gods and Generals", which is the prequel to "Gettysburg".

Meade arrives on the battlefield on the evening of July 1. Meade is indeed cautious, and actually wants to leave his position at Gettysburg, but his subordinates convince him not to, and the battle is an overwhelming victory for the Union Army.
