The beginning of the film shows a smiling Hannibal with his family living in Lecter Castle, Lithuania. Fortunes are soon to change as the country becomes a battle field.

2. What is Hannibal's sister's name?

Answer: Mischa

Hannibal's younger sister, Mischa suffers a horrible death at the hands of some Lithuanian soldiers. Starving and desperate for food, the soldiers resort to cannibalism. This particularly traumatic event renders Hannibal mute and psychologically scarred for life.

6. Hannibal discovers Lady Murasaki kneeling before her the altar of her ancestors. She says, "Forgive me. I have come to seek revenge. Hannibal needs peace." Hannibal is quite moved by this and takes it upon himself to enact the revenge himself. How does he do it?

Inspired by his aunt's tales of Samurai warriors and drawings of their victim's heads, Hannibal seeks out the butcher and demands an apology. An apology from the butcher not forthcoming, Hannibal first strikes the butcher several times with the sword and then beheads him.

7. Hannibal is now intent on avenging the horrible death of his sister. Unfortunately, he cannot remember the names of the perpetrators. As a medical student, he observes a suspect being given a truth serum to jog his memory. Hannibal decides to use it on himself. What is it?

Having observed how well the injection of sodium thiopental (sodium pentathol) has worked on a prisoner, Hannibal injects himself with the serum. It allows him to recall in vivid detail the events that transpired in the lodge. He returns to Kaunus to take care of the remains of his sister and discovers the name tags of the soldiers in the lodge.

8. Hannibal extracts some vital information from Dortlich before Hannibal kills him. Hannibal finds out that Kolnas is in Fontainebleau, France. What is Kolnas doing in Fontainebleau?

Hannibal discovers that Kolnas is running a restaurant in Fontainebleau under the name of Kleber. Hannibal and his aunt visit the restaurant and they see Kolnas with his family. Kolnas' daughter is wearing Mischa's bracelet. Hannibal slips a dog tag into Kolnas' daughter's pocket.

This alarms the remaining soldiers. Kolnas tells Grutas that the boy's name is Hannibal Lecter. "You know him?" Grutas says, "So do you. We had dinner with him during the war."

9. Grutas has kidnapped Lady Murasaki and tells Hannibal that he will exchange Lady Murasaki for the evidence that Hannibal holds. Hannibal knows that his aunt was being held at Kolnas' restaurant. Does Hannibal kill Kolnas?

Answer: Yes

Grutas was holding Lady Murasaki at Kolnas' restaurant. Hannibal knows the location because he can hear the birds chirping in the restaurant while on the phone with Grutas. Hannibal surprises Kolnas at the restaurant and promises to not harm his children if Kolnas will disclose the whereabouts of his aunt. Hannibal tells Kolnas, "I will spare your life for the sake of the children." He then places his gun on a hot stove, waiting to see if Kolnas will pick it up.

As expected, Kolnas tries to pick up the gun but Hannibal is ready for him and kills him with his ceremonial knife.

10. Hannibal tracks down Grutas on his boat, rescues his aunt and ceremoniously disposes of Grutas. But, before he kills Grutas, he demands to know where he may find Grentz. In which country is Grentz living?

Answer: Canada

Grutas tells Hannibal that Grentz may be found living in a village in Canada, near Saskatoon. Lady Murasaki pleads with Hannibal to turn Grutas over to Popil. Hannibal says, "He ate my sister." Grutas laughs and says, "So did you ... you ate her, too." Infuriated by this knowledge, Hannibal carves an "M" into Grutas' chest. Hannibal finds Grentz in the hamlet of Melville.

He confronts Grentz saying, "I have come to collect a head."
