Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the beginning of the movie, Elizabeth Turner is singing A "Pirate's Life For Me".

Answer: False

The answer here was false because it is not Elizabeth Turner, but Elizabeth Swann that was singing. Shortly after this she finds a boy floating in the water by the name of Will Turner.
2. In the beginning of the movie, Norrington tells Elizabeth that he will give any man who sails under a pirate flag a short drop and a sudden stop. Then the Governor steps up and asks Norrington to stop, for fear of the effects the subject will have on his daughter. What title does Norrington hold at this time?

Answer: Lieutenant

Norrington was in fact Lieutenant at this time, but after the dream scene, you find that in the years separating the dream from the present, Norrington has moved up in ranks to Captain, and is to be promoted from Captain to a higher rank; Commodore.
3. The little boy who plays young Will Turner has how many lines in the movie?

Answer: one

Amazingly enough, the boy who plays young Will Turner only gets about two minutes of fame in the limelight, as he has just enough time to sputter out "Will Turner!" before falling back into the black oblivion of unconsciousness.
4. According to what Elizabeth tells Will, the scene in the beginning of the movie in which she finds Will is a dream about when they first met.

Answer: True

Elizabeth tells Will after she comes downstairs that she had a dream about him, when they first met, which her father doesn't find completely lady-like.
5. What color is Captain Jack Sparrow's bandanna?

Answer: Red

Johnny Depp was very enthusiastic about taking the character of Jack Sparrow to the limits. He had his dentist put the caps on his teeth, and he did want more, but Gore Verbinski thought it would be a little too much.
6. When we first see Jack Sparrow (marvelously played by Johnny Depp) he is sailing into Port Royal in a sinking boat. What are his first lines?

Answer: "What do you say to three shillings, and we forget the name?"

Johnny Depp's first line in the movie is in fact when he speaks to the docking manager. This moment is quite funny, because he is asked to pay for a sunken boat that he hasn't even tied to the dock.
7. The dress that is given to Elizabeth by her father is green and yellow.

Answer: False

The dress Elizabeth was given by her father was a gold color. The dresses women wore were normally high on the scale of looking nice, but they were neither comfortable nor light. Wearing one of those dresses with a corset on a hot day such as the day of the ceremony would be like wearing five layers of blankets in one hundred degree weather.
8. Some of the swords used in "Pirates of the Caribbean" were actual pirates' swords from the golden age of piracy.

Answer: True

A few swords used in the movie were purchased in London are actual pirates' swords, according to Gore Verbinski, the director, on an ABC news interview of "Pirates of the Caribbean" that aired the day the movie came out (for me, July 9th). Something you didn't know, eh?
9. A few of the ships used in the movie were actually constructed from scratch by the movie crew (Not the actors).

Answer: True

A lot of time and effort went into creating the ships, just for them to have holes blown in them. What a way to admire one's handiwork! This tidbit of information also came from the ABC news interview with Gore Verbinski.
10. The extensions put on Orlando Bloom (Will Turner)'s hair took at least how many hours every day?

Answer: 5 or 6

Poor Orlando Bloom said in his interview with ABC news that he had to sit for five or six hours to get his hair extensions put in, but they do add to the movie, don't they?
