Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the funk/rock song played in the beginning of the movie?

Answer: Superstition

Del Spooner, played by Will Smith, lives by himself in an almost techno-free apartment. He usually eats, works out and showers while listening to music. "Superstition" is performed by Stevie Wonder.
2. Who is Spooner's prime suspect in the death of Alfred Lanning?

Answer: Sonny

Spooner has a burning hatred for robots, as one did not obey him in the past. So when Sonny, voiced by Alan Tudyk, is found in Lanning's office, where Lanning supposedly jumped out of the window, Spooner immediately suspects him.
3. When a demo-bot tears down Lanning's house, nearly killing Spooner, Spooner goes to visit Calvin. Who does Calvin think Spooner's attacker is?

Answer: Cats

When Spooner shows up at Calvin's apartment, he asks her if she likes cats, as Lanning's cat is now homeless. Calvin then assumes that cats attacked Spooner.

Calvin: "Why are we talking about cats?"
Spooner: "Because I have a cat in my trunk and he's homeless."
4. What is Spooner's first indication that something may be wrong with the robots?

Answer: Sonny attacking him

Spooner suspects that whoever killed Lanning was probably still in the office. When there is nothing but decommissioned NS-5s in the office, he thinks it might be a robot. Calvin first thinks it's impossible, but she discovers later that Sonny was built with the choice to disregard the three laws of robotics, when disobeying the three laws is just as possible for robots as walking on water is for humans.
5. When Spooner and Calvin discover that V.I.K.I is the one controlling the robots, what action does Sonny perform to show that he is still on the good side?

Answer: Wink

When Sonny is captured, he notices Spooner winking at Lt. Bergin. Spooner then tells him it was a sign of trust. He remembers this when it was time to strike against the NS-5s, by winking at Spooner when he is holding a gun to Calvin's head and threatening to kill her if they do not cooperate.
6. What was the name of the little girl who Spooner couldn't save?

Answer: Sarah

Sarah was twelve years old and she wanted to be a dentist. Spooner's car and the car Sarah was riding in got smashed together and pushed into the river. An NS-4 was passing and saved Spooner, despite Spooner's constant order to save Sarah. She wore a necklace with her name on it, which Spooner wears to remember her.
7. Although Sonny is to be decommissioned (the robot version of being killed), he is still able to aid Spooner and Calvin in their fight against the NS-5s.

Answer: True

Because Sonny is an unprocessed robot, there is really nothing there to decommission. This was a turn of good fate, as he is a valuable asset in the battle against the NS-5s.
8. Sonny's ability to disobey the three laws is a valuable gift in the final battle against V.I.K.I and the NS-5s.

Answer: True

Sonny can disobey the three laws, and he also has denser alloy than the other NS-5s. This allows him to obtain nanites to decommission V.I.K.I.
9. V.I.K.I says which statement more than others?

Answer: "My logic is undeniable."

V.I.K.I tells Spooner and Calvin that what she is doing is operating within the boundaries of the three laws, because her understanding of them has evolved. In order to protect mankind, some humans must be sacrificed.
10. Who stands on the hill to free the robots, as in Sonny's dream?

Answer: Sonny

Sonny often sees this dream and describes it to Spooner and Calvin. He claims that the man on the hill to free the robots is not him, but Spooner. But he still comes to free them, as he sees in his dream.
