"Shallow" was the song that got Ally's (Lady Gaga) career going in "A Star is Born." Jack (Bradley Cooper) was helping Ally and encouraging her career until she became a bigger star. His alcoholism spiraled out of control, as did his career. The song won the Oscar in 2019 for Best Original Song.

"Ride of the Valkyries" is what Lt Col Bill Kilgore (Robert Duvall) had playing from loudspeakers on their attack helicopters. This is also the "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" scene. Captain Willard (Martin Sheen) meets Kilgore while making his way up the Mekong River. He is in search of Colonel Kurtz (Marlon Brando). Willard is tasked with assassinating Kurtz.

Answer: Goodfellas

"Goodfellas" was the true story of gangster Henry Hill (Ray Liotta). "Layla" was the post-Lufthansa heist montage where dead bodies were showing up all over town. They find them in garbage, hanging from a hook in a meat delivery truck, and in a Cadillac. All the while, Hill is narrating why everyone was getting killed.

Answer: Reservoir Dogs

A tale of a jewelry-heist-gone-wrong, "Reservoir Dogs" was the first major film directed by Quentin Tarantino. While hiding out and waiting to be rescued, a few of the surviving thieves try to figure out how things went south so quickly. In one the most disturbing scenes, Mr. Blonde has a cop tied to a chair and he does a little dance (to this song) as he's threatening the cop, making him seem even more menacing. Mr. Blonde pulls out a straight razor and cuts off the cop's ear.

Answer: Ferris Bueller's Day Off

High school senior Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) skips school and takes his girlfriend Sloane and his best friend Cameron to Chicago to enjoy the day. Cameron and Ferris go to the garage and are looking at Cameron's dad's 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California.

As soon as they show the car, the song plays. They end up taking the car to Chicago. Imagine spending the day driving such a fine automobile!

Answer: Wayne's World

The resurgence and renewed popularity of "Bohemian Rhapsody" came when the song was featured in "Wayne's World." Wayne and Garth have a TV show on public access television called "Wayne's World". It becomes so popular that network executives are trying to get control of the show.

In one of the scenes, Wayne, Garth, and their friends in the back seat lip-sync this song as they're driving through town in the Mirthmobile (an AMC Pacer). The scene ends with head banging!

Answer: Pretty in Pink

A John Hughes film, "Pretty in Pink" tells the story of Andie (Molly Ringwald), Blane (Andrew McCarthy), and Duckie (Jon Cryer), a love triangle that really isn't one. Duckie is in love with Andie, but she only has eyes for Blane. The problem, however, is that Blane is rich and Andie is a working-class girl from the wrong side of the tracks.

The '80s new wave sound was very prevalent throughout the film. "If You Leave" was featured in the ending scene where Andie and Duckie are at the prom. Andie sees Blane and wants to go to him, but she's worried about hurting Duckie's feelings.

He tells her that she belongs with Blane and lets her go.

Answer: Smokey and the Bandit

Once Bandit (Burt Reynolds) and Snowman (Jerry Reed) pick up the beer and are headed back to Atlanta, the song plays, showing Bandit's Pontiac Trans Am driving really fast - giving police something to chase instead of chasing Snowman in the truck. The song's title is interesting.

They had driven to Texarkana from Atlanta to pick up Coors beer (which at the time wasn't available east of the Mississippi) and were headed back, so they were eastbound. "Down" refers to pushing the gas pedal down to go faster.

Answer: Rocky III

In one of the most famous movie training montages, "Eye of the Tiger" plays as Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) trains with Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) to get stronger, better, and faster in the boxing ring. Creed is convinced that Rocky can take on Clubber Lang (Mr. T) and win.

Answer: The Karate Kid

"The Karate Kid" tells the story of Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio), a recent transplant in Los Angeles from New Jersey. Daniel has some problems with bullies, who are all karate students from the Cobra Kai dojo. Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) takes Daniel on as his karate student to compete in the All-Valley Karate Tournament. "You're the Best" is playing as Daniel works his way through the tournament.

This is one of the most recognizable training/competition montages in film. He makes the finals, where he defeats Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) of Cobra Kai.
