Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The movie begins with a wealthy heiress, Pooja, escaping from her father's yacht. Which of these people help Pooja to get away?

Answer: Fishermen

Pooja is in love with an actor, Deepak, but her father doesn't approve of the match. She manages to escape from her father's boat, only to find police looking for her at the shore. A group of fisher folk come to her rescue when they offer her their clothes and help her to disguise.
2. While trying to avoid the police, Pooja and her helpers break into a song and dance routine, in typical Bollywood style. Though the movie is in Hindi, the refrain of the song "Galyat Sankali Sonyachi" is in which other Indian language?

Answer: Marathi

The words "Galyat Sankali Sonyachi" are used in both Marathi and Konkani, languages spoken by the fisher folk on the western coast of India. The refrain was taken from an old folk song and is present in both languages. It literally means "Who does this girl with a gold chain belong to?". The rest of the song contains Hindi lyrics.
3. Just like the original movie, what mode of transport does Pooja opt for to reach the city of Bangalore?

Answer: Bus

Deepak is shooting for a film in Bangalore. Short of funds and trying not to catch the attention of any police or private detectives sent by her father, Pooja boards a bus.

In the original movie, "It Happened One Night", the heiress boards a bus to make the journey from Florida to New York City.
4. On the way, Pooja meets Raghu, whose help she enlists to reach Bangalore. Who is Raghu?

Answer: An out of work reporter

Raghu Jetley is a reporter who recently lost his job at a newspaper. He quickly seizes on the chance to get his job back by submitting an exclusive story on the runaway heiress. In return, he offers to help Pooja reach Bangalore. If she doesn't agree, he threatens to call her father and inform of her whereabouts.
5. A short while later, Pooja is kidnapped by some goons. Which song sequence takes place when Raghu and Pooja are escaping from the kidnappers?

Answer: Dil Tujhpe Aa Gaya

In one of the only sequences in the film that is not taken from the original, Pooja is kidnapped by a bunch of goons, who have no connection with the rest of the plot. Raghu manages to find and save her and while they escape, they run into a gypsy-like garden party. As expected, they don similar costumes and blend with the other dancers to escape detection.

"Dil Tujhpe Aa Gaya" was sung by Abhijeet Bhattacharya and Anuradha Paudwal. The other incorrect options are all songs from the movie's soundtrack.
6. Pooja finally confesses her love to Raghu at a motel. Does he reciprocate?

Answer: No

By this stage of the story, both Pooja and Raghu have realised that they are in love with each other. Pooja confesses to Raghu but he denies having feelings for her. Raghu is worried about his financial position and doesn't want to commit without any income to support them both. Unlike Pooja's allegedly gold-digging fiance, Raghu is portrayed as someone who would not take any money or financial support from Pooja's father.
7. In the climax, Raghu has an appointment to meet Pooja's father. Why does he need to meet him?

Answer: To claim the money he spent on Pooja

Raghu sends a letter to Dharamchand, Pooja's father, asking for money. Dharamchand misunderstands this to mean the reward money he had announced for finding Pooja. When Pooja hears this, she is upset and determined to go ahead with her marriage to Deepak. On meeting Raghu, Dharamchand realises that he only wanted the money he had spent on Pooja during their journey and not any reward money.

This confirms to him that Raghu loves Pooja and he convinces Pooja to runaway from the wedding venue.
8. Where do the much-in-love couple finally reunite?

Answer: On a bus

Pooja runs away from the wedding venue in a car arranged by her father. She then reunites with Raghu in a bus, similar to how they first met.

The Hindi remake follows the originally movie quite closely right down to small details like Raghu claiming a small amount of expenses from Pooja's father and the clothesline hung between the two beds for privacy when Pooja and Raghu are on the run.
9. The film's soundtrack had a number of hit songs. While there were multiple male singers, who was the only female singer to lend her voice for this film?

Answer: Anuradha Paudwal

Anuradha Paudwal was a well known singer at the time and had delivered notable hits for the film's music producers, T-Series. Her voice was used exclusively for Pooja on the film's soundtrack. This is not a common occurrence on Bollywood film soundtracks where typically different genres of songs are sung by different singers, even for the same character.
10. Which actors played the lead roles in the movie?

Answer: Aamir Khan & Pooja Bhatt

Pooja Bhatt is the daughter of the film's director, Mahesh Bhatt. This was her first major role as the female lead. Aamir Khan had already cemented his position as a romantic hero with his earlier films "Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak", "Dil" and "Afsana Pyaar Ka" and gained a significant fan following by the time this movie released.

The fresh pairing and lighthearted romantic storyline resulted in the film being a hit at the box-office.
