Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these scenarios featured in the 2010 animated film, "Despicable Me"?

Answer: A villain and his sidekick try to steal the moon by using a shrink-ray.

This animated film featured the voice of Steve Carrell as the villain, Gru, with Russell Brand voicing his sidekick scientist, Dr Nefario. The film plot saw arch villain Vector steal the Great Pyramid of Giza. Gru wanted to be more despicable (hence the title), so planned to steal the moon by using a shrink-ray, but his guilty conscience stirred when Vector kidnapped three orphan girls and held them for ransom.

It was the first film made at the Illumination Entertainment studios who since went on to make the successful 2013 sequel, "Despicable Me 2".
2. The 2009 film "Up" featured which of these story lines?

Answer: An old man turned his house into a flying airship using hundreds of helium filled balloons.

This Walt Disney film produced by Pixar featured an old widower called Mr Fredrickson, voiced by Ed Asner. This colourful production had a cute storyline and included several comedic characters including a boy called Russell, a squawking bird called Kevin, and a talking dog called Dug. Mr Fredrickson, Carl, was recently widowed, and following on from a promise he made to his dead wife, he went on a journey to the beautiful Paradise Falls. To do this, he attached hundreds of colourful helium filled balloons to his house then flew towards his destination, encountering many mishaps along the way.
3. "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" (2009) featured which of these plots?

Answer: Scientist Flint Lockwood's machine turned falling rain into cheeseburgers.

The idea for the film "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" (2009) was based on the book written by Judi and Ron Barrett. Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader), who lived with his monkey, Steve (Neil Patrick Harris), devised a machine which turned water into food. Cheeseburgers rained from the sky! A giant meatball in the sky was building ominously overhead, and Flint was able to divert disaster with the help of trainee weather forecaster, Sam (Anna Faris).
4. "Brave" (2012) included which of these key story lines?

Answer: A young Scottish princess ran away into a forest when she refused to marry a suitor.

Instead she ran away to the forest. Because of her pride, a spell was cast over her mother, and it was up to young Merida to stop Queen Elinor from permanently turning into a bear.
