Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'There's no crying in baseball!'

Answer: A League Of Their Own

The author of that line apparently never attended a tee-ball game!
2. 'What we have here is failure to communicate.'

Answer: Cool Hand Luke

Probably one of the most memorable movie lines of all time.
3. 'Heeeeeere's Johnny!'

Answer: The Shining

All our answers are in fact movies adapted from Stephen King novels or stories. The wide-screen version of 'The Shining' was directed by Stanley Kubrick. By the way, Stephen King absolutely despised this version.
4. 'That's a horse of a different color!'

Answer: The Wizard of Oz

Frank Morgan, in one of his many roles in this movie, proclaims this line as he admits Dorothy and company into the Emerald City. By the way, colored gel crystals were used to make the horse 'change colors'.
5. 'She's sleeping with Prince Valium tonight.'

Answer: Beetlejuice

Wynona Ryder, who launches a successful movie career in this Tim Burton movie, makes this statement about her overly-sedated stepmother to 'ghosts' Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis.
6. 'Tell 'em "Large Marge" sent ya!'

Answer: Pee Wee's Big Adventure

A Tim Burton movie, starring another 'ghost', in this case Large Marge, who gives unsuspecting Pee Wee Herman a ride in her 'ghost' truck. By the way, if you chose 'Shaft's Big Score', two thumbs down to you!
7. 'Charlie don't surf!'

Answer: Apocalypse Now

A great scene from one of Francis Ford Coppola's most intense movies, this clip features Robert Duvall as over-the-top air cavalry Colonel Kilgore. In another memorable line from this scene, Duvall states 'I love the smell of napalm in the morning. It smells like victory.' Looney....
8. 'Dirt in the fuel line, blowed it away.'

Answer: Bonnie and Clyde

Spoken by C.W. Moss (as portrayed by character actor Michael J. Pollard), who then joins Bonnie and Clyde in their crime spree.
9. 'He keeps birds. Dirty, disgusting, filthy, lice-ridden birds. Birds.'

Answer: The Producers

Spoken about Nazi sympathizer Franz Liebken (actor Kenneth Mars), whose play is chosen by Bialystock and Bloom (Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder) as being the worst they ever read, and a potential money maker for the scam-artist producers. Director Mel Brooks, who is Jewish, was criticized by many movie critics for his light-hearted treatment of Hitler and the Third Reich in this movie's play-within-a-play, 'Springtime For Hitler'.
10. 'Afghanistan banana-stand.'

Answer: The Hot Rock

The movie starred Robert Redford and George Segal as would-be thiefs, attempting to steal a precious gem. 'Afghanistan banana-stand' was a password. It didn't work that well. Just see the movie...
11. 'A world without string is chaos.'

Answer: Mouse Hunt

The line in question was not a spoken line of dialogue, but a written line that prominently appeared under the portrait of the owner of Smuntz String, Rudolph Smuntz, portrayed by William Hickey in what was to be his final movie role. The movie was in fact dedicated to his memory.
12. 'It's not gonna be an orgy. It's a toga party!'

Answer: National Lampoon's Animal House

13. 'My God! It's full of stars!'

Answer: 2001: A Space Odyssey

Remember astronaut David Bowman (played by Keir Dullea), floating through that time-dimension warp thingy at the end of the movie? I still haven't figured that one out. Oh well, still an entertaining movie nonetheless. By the way, I believe that the follow-up '2010: The Year We Make Contact' also has David Bowman repeating that line.
14. 'You're gonna need a bigger boat!'

Answer: Jaws

Hey, Chief Brody, better get that rifle ready! Still one of my favorite movies. Thank God the Turner Network still airs it, like, 30 times a week!
15. 'It's good to be the King!'

Answer: History of the World, Part I

Another funny Mel Brooks movie! Actually, he never made the follow-up 'History, Part II', but I'm still hoping that one day, it will be showing in a theater near me!
