Scrooge plays Ebenezer Scrooge, the Victorian-era miser. Scrooge McDuck is no doubt named after the Dickens' character. He is voiced by Alan Young in the movie.

When the Ghost of Christmas Present shows Scrooge the Cratchits' meager Christmas dinner, Scrooge protests. "Look at that big pot boiling on the stove!" "That's your laundry."

Like in the book, Scrooge and Cratchit are at constant odds over heating the office, Cratchit complaining of the cold, Scrooge not wanting to pay for any extra coal.

Answer: Jiminy Cricket

Jiminy reprises his role as someone's conscience, reminding Scrooge of the friendships and love he left behind in his youth. He takes Scrooge back to his days as a young man...er, duck, when he cared about more than money.

Answer: Goofy

In nearly a hundred years of 'Christmas Carol' films, Goofy probably is the least terrifying Jacob Marley. Goofy warns Scrooge that he will join him in torment unless he repents his stingy ways. He then promptly trips over Scrooge's cane and falls down the stairs.

Answer: Mr. Toad ('The Wind in the Willows')

As a boss, Mr. Fezziwig was kind, fun-loving and generous, everything Scrooge is not. There are many of Mr. Toad's companions in this movie: Ratty and Mole are the collectors for the poor, the weasels are the grave diggers, and I'm pretty sure Nephew Fred's horse is Mr. Toad's horse.

Isabelle (played by Daisy Duck) was Scrooge's fiancee at one time. She broke off their engagement when he foreclosed the mortgage on their honeymoon cottage.

As in Dickens' book, the Ghost of Christmas Present is a giant, jolly man, surrounded by piles of food. Willie travels from house to house, prying off roofs to look inside. He shows Scrooge the Cratchits' squalid house and meager Christmas meal, and warns Scrooge that Tiny Tim will not live much longer if the situation doesn't change.

Answer: Pete

Pete (the dog-looking guy who plays the villain in many Mickey Mouse adventures) plays the Ghost of Christmas Future. He blows cigar smoke in Scrooge's face while showing him visions of Bob Cratchit weeping at his son's grave, and of Scrooge's own neglected tomb. We never see his face until he laughingly informs Scrooge that he's 'the richest man in the cemetery.' Scrooge then plunges into a firey pit and wakes up screaming in his own bed.

Answer: His nephew, Fred

Fred (played by Donald, of course), had been trying for years to get his uncle to join him for Christmas dinner. Scrooge had always rudely turned him down, and so surprises Fred when he meets him on the street and tells him how he's looking forward to coming to dinner.

Scrooge turns over a new leaf, Tiny Tim survives, and everyone lives happily ever after. This short film was originally released in the United Kingom in 1983, and in the U.S. as an accompaniment to the re-release of 'The Rescuers'.
