Marion Crane steals $40,000 from her employer and decides to leave town. On a late rainy night she pulls into a remote lodging called the Bates Motel. It is here that she meets Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins). Janet Leigh (1927 - 2004) was at one time married to Tony Curtis and they are the parents of the actress Jamie Lee Curtis.
Vera Miles played Lila Crane (Marion's sister). Caroline was played by Patricia Hitchcock (Alfred's natural daughter) and Melanie Daniels was played by Tippi Hedren but in another Hitchcock thriller "The Birds".

Russ Tamblyn (born 1934) has been acting in movies for over 65 years beginning in 1948 and was in the 2012 movie "Django Unchained". Richard Beymer played Tony Wyzek, the founder of the Jets and best friend of Riff. George Chakiris played Bernardo, the leader of the Sharks and older brother of Maria (Natalie Wood). Simon Oakland was Lieutenant Schrank, the neighbourhood police officer.
The musical had 11 Academy Award nominations, however, it won 10 included Best Supporting Actor and Actress (George Chakiris and Rita Moreno).
3. In "Lolita" (1962) Prof. Humbert Humbert is looking for lodgings and decides to decline Mrs. Haze's offer of a room, but suddenly changes his mind. What does he say is the decisive factor that makes him change his mind when asked by Mrs. Haze?

Answer: "Your cherry pies."

Prof Humbert (James Mason) was ready to decline the offer of the room from the widow Mrs. Charlotte Haze (Shelley Winters), when suddenly while standing on the patio he sees her daughter Lolita (Sue Lyons) in the garden sitting on a rug in a bikini and looking most attractive. He immediately changes his mind about the offer of the room. When asked by Mrs. Haze why he changed his mind he comes up with "your cherry pies" which she had mentioned moments before in a conversation.
The film received much criticism upon its release because of scenes that left much to the imagination of the audiences. However, as an actress, Sue Lyon (only 16 at the time) held her own in the company of James Mason, Peter Sellers and Shelley Winters.
In 1964 she also played a seductive role opposite Richard Burton in "The Night of the Iguana".

There were only three escape tunnels (Tom, Dick and Harry) being dug at the same time. Tom was discovered so all efforts were concentrated on Harry. This movie had a host of actors including James Garner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn just to name a few. Ironically, there were no Americans involved in the actual escape in 1944 from Stalag Luft III.
Richard Attenborough's character is based on the real live exploits of Roger Joyce Bushell who was born in Springs, South Africa in 1910. He was one of the 50 that were executed.
The British actor Rupert Davies, who later became Maigret in the popular TV series 1960-63, was a POW in Stalag Luft III.

Audrey Hepburn (1929 - 1993) was nominated five times for Best Actress, and won one Oscar for he role in the 1954 movie "Roman Holiday" opposite Gregory Peck. Julie Andrews was later in "Sound of Music" and "Mary Poppins". Wendy Hiller was Eliza Doolittle in the 1938 movie "Pygmalion" opposite Leslie Howard as Henry Higgins.
Katharine Hepburn (1907-2003) won four Best Actress Academy Awards spanning the years 1934 - 1982.

Dustin Hoffman played David Sumner in "Straw Dogs" (1971), Thomas "Babe" Levy in "Marathon Man (1976) and Raymond Babbitt in "Rain Man" (1988).
Hoffman, Anne Bancroft (Mrs. Robinson) and Katharine Ross (Elaine Robinson) all received Oscar nominations for their roles in the movie.
Hoffman has received several Academy Awards nominations and has been successful as Best Actor for "Kramer vs. Kramer" (1979) and "Rain Man" (1988).

When writing the script Fonda imagined they were modern day cowboys roaming the west so he decided on the names of Wyatt Earp (1848 - 1929) and Billy the Kid (1859 - 1881). Earp was a gambler and Town Marshal who roamed the west and Billy was a gunman, outlaw and folk hero of the old west. Wyatt (Fonda) was also nicknamed Captain America. Peter Fonda's American Flag Patch on the back of his jacket in the movie sold for $89,000 in 2007.
