Answer: Three Wishes

I'm speaking of the stranger played by Patrick Swayze in "Three Wishes". The mother of the two boys accidentally hits him with her car and takes him in until he's better. While he's in the family's home, the younger son is diagnosed with cancer. The boys' father has never returned from WWII even though the war has been over for awhile. Upon his departure, the man grants a wish to each of the family members.

The mother's wish is to have the younger boy cured, which does happen. Tom, played by Joseph Mazzello (the older boy), won't make a wish because he's angry that the man is leaving him. So the man makes the wish for him and that wish is revealed at the end of the movie.

The younger boy's wish is to fly, which also happens. The boys' father does eventually return from a POW camp and until the end of the movie, when Tom is an adult, he thinks that was the wish that was made for him, but it wasn't.

Answer: Frailty

The man, played by Bill Paxton, receives orders from God in "Frailty" that he is to rid the Earth of evil spirits by killing their human forms. He can see their sins when he touches them to verify that he has the right people. The older son refutes the idea that there even is a God and great struggle amidst the family ensues.

The younger son believes a little too much into the God theory.

Answer: Memento

The man, played by Guy Pearce, has lost his short-term memory and must write down everything on pieces of paper and even resorts to tattooing himself. He's out to find the man who killed his wife and all he knows about him is his name is "John G". The most interesting part of this movie is that the scenes are shot in reverse, so you see things happen and the next scene is what led up to them.

Answer: Rock Star

Chris gets the chance to be the new lead singer for Steel Dragon in "Rock Star". He enjoys his high life until he sees the pressure and fakeness of it and decides to pass the mic, so to speak, and return home to his girlfriend Emily and the rest of his normal friends.

Answer: The Big Lebowski

Ah, the Dude. This poor stoner bowler gets mistaken for the rich Jeffrey Lebowski and has people who want money from the latter come and pee on his rug. He sets out with his two mishap friends to get the rug back and ends up much further involved with the "big Lebowski's" world than he'd care to be.
