Based on a 1937 book by Isak Dinesen, "Out of Africa" tells of the struggles of a Danish woman to run a coffee farm her husband has bought and all but abandoned. Attempts to make her marriage work, fail, so she focuses her energies on her farm and the local people, starting a school.

She eventually has an affair with a big game hunter, played by Redford. Streep was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance, but did not win. The film did take seven Oscars, including Best Film and Best Director.

Granger plays Guy Haines, a tennis star who wants to be free to marry the love of his life. Unfortunately he is already married and she isn't letting him go easily. Haines meets Bruno Anthony (Robert Walker), a ne'er do well whose father is tired of paying his way. Bruno suggests that they each 'take care' of the other's problem. Being strangers, they would never be linked to the murders, and so everyone would get away with it. Haines thinks Bruno is crazy, until Bruno really does kill his wife, and the games begin. Billy Crystal and Danny DeVito starred in a less successful, 1987 parody of the film, entitled "Throw Momma From the Train".

In 1997, shortly after Tony Blair was elected as Prime Minister of Britain, Princess Diana was killed in a car accident in Paris. This film deals with that time, as the Queen, relying on tradition and training, is unable to cope with her people's reaction to the death. She sees it as a private, family matter, while the public needs her to be part of the mourning process. Prime Minister Blair helps her through the dark times.
Helen Mirren won an Academy Award for her performance as the Queen.

Answer: Shutter Island

U.S. Marshall Teddy Daniels (DiCaprio) and his partner Chuck Aule (Ruffalo) arrive on Shutter Island to investigate a missing patient. The island holds a large hospital for the criminally insane, which is virtually impossible to escape from, and yet the patient is gone. The plot thickens as we learn that Daniels has his own agenda for coming to the island, and patients start leaving him hints. A big storm adds to the suspense, as nothing turns out to be what it really seems.
The movie is based on a book by Dennis Lehane.

Answer: Sneakers

When a team of security specialists are asked to steal a mysterious black box from the Russians, they believe they are being asked by the National Security Agency. However something doesn't smell right (including the strong-armed tactics the alleged NSA men use) and they soon find that they have been drawn into a web that is much more sinister. Dan Aykroyd, David Strathairn, Mary McDonnell, James Earl Jones and River Phoenix round out this incredible cast.

Answer: The Colour of Money

"The Colour of Money" is a sequel to the 1961 movie "The Hustler". Paul Newman reprises his role as pool shark, Fast Eddie Felson. Felson takes Vincent Lauria (Cruise), a talented but green player, under his wing to teach him the finer points of hustling pool.

After they have a falling out, Felson decides to get back into the game himself. Of course their paths are bound to cross again! Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio plays the love interest.

Answer: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Of course Willy Wonka's chocolate factory has a much more unconventional approach. When eccentric candy maker, Willy Wonka, decides it's time to choose an heir, he inserts five golden tickets into his Wonka Bars. The five lucky children to find the tickets are invited to his factory for a tour. There the winner (and heir apparent) proves his or her worthiness by being the last one standing, so to speak.

Answer: The Perfect Storm

Based on a true story, "The Perfect Storm" tells the story of the fate of the Andrea Gail and her crew. Driven beyond their normal limits, by an exceptionally bad fishing season, they come face to face with the storm of the century, created by the meeting of two different storm fronts, plus a hurricane.

A breakdown of their ice machine forces the men to make the choice of losing their catch, or trying to ride out the storm and get home.

Answer: Cinderella

Based on a story by Charles Perrault, "Cinderella" tells the story of a beautiful young girl who, after the death of her father, is left to wait on her stepmother and stepsisters. When the king commands that every eligible girl attend a ball, so that his son can choose a wife, Cinderella wants to go but her stepmother and stepsisters make it impossible. So her Fairy Godmother arranges it all, creating a coach out of a pumpkin, and she wins the heart of her Prince.

Answer: The Princess Bride

"The Princess Bride" is a brilliant piece of adventure/comedy. It tells the love story of Buttercup and her true love Westley, who is forced to become the Dread Pirate Roberts for a time. While he is away pirating, Prince Humperdinck plans to marry and murder Buttercup to whip up his country's support for a war with their sworn enemy, the country of Guilder. Fezzik the Giant and Inigo Montoya are initially part of this plot, but soon switch sides when they learn of the existence of the Six Fingered Man.

The movie is based on a novel by William Goldman.
