But a Great White Shark is stalking the waters around the island, and making it very dangerous to go swimming. The film is set during WWII and also touches upon the terrible plight of Aboriginal children at the time.
The magnificent rock in the photo is Uluru, formerly known as Ayer's Rock, which is situated in the Australian Outback, in the Northern Territory. The rock is a single rock, made of sandstone, and is quite spectacular to see.

The prison was Alcatraz, opened by the Federal Bureau of Prisons in 1934. In the 29 years that it was open, it held some very dangerous men, like Machine Gun Kelly and Al Capone.
The movie "The Rock" shows a group of Marines, led by Francis Hummel (Ed Harris) taking over the prison and threatening an attack on the mainland with some very nasty VX gas armed rockets. Hummel is seeking recognition for men he has lost under his command, who were essentially ignored because they died while on secret missions.
The plan is for Mason (played by Connery), as the only man who ever successfully escaped from the Rock, to lead a team back in where chemical weapons expert Goodspeed (played by Cage) can disarm the weapons.

When Captain Jack Sparrow (Depp) comes to Port Royal, he is arrested and put in jail. That night the cursed crew of the Black Pearl, Sparrow's former ship, attacks, and takes Elizabeth Swann (Knightley) away with them. Young Will Turner (Bloom) enlists Sparrow's help in rescuing Swann from pirate Captain Barbossa (Rush), who thinks he needs her blood to lift the curse.

Brandon and Philip are two students who feel superior in many ways. They decide to act on this belief, in a manner previously discussed on an academic level in class, by committing the perfect murder. They invite a classmate over, strangle him with a rope, then throw a party with his fiancee and parents in attendance, serving food on the chest wherein the body lies. Stewart plays the professor who discovers the body and is horrified to find that his two students have acted on what he thought was only rhetoric.
