Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who says, "I must be crazy...I'm on a pilgrimage to see a moose!"?

Answer: Clark

Clark says this while the family is in Phoenix, after dropping off a dead Aunt Edna at her son's house. Clark goes berserk, and ends up yelling at everyone in the car. The last straw for him is when Rusty suggests that they turn around and go home, since they have been through so many hard times on their trip. Ellen then backs Rusty up, and tells Clark that maybe they should just go home. Clark snaps and begins having an "outburst", as Ellen later calls it, and they all end up silent and unhappy.
2. Who says, "You know, I got laid off when they closed the asbestos factory"?

Answer: Eddie

Ellen's cousin Eddie says this, while the Griswalds are visiting Eddie and his family in Kansas. Eddie is in dire need of money, so he asks Clark if he can spare a few dollars, $52,000 to be exact. Eddie and his wife Katherine have five children, with one baby on the way, and they are living in a very old and beat up farmhouse. Eddie mentions that the bank has been after him a lot lately, so he really needs financial help.
3. Ellen says, "You left his dead mother tied to a lawn chair in his backyard. I'm sure he won't mind".

Answer: True

After Aunt Edna passes away on the trip from Kansas to Phoenix, Clark decides to drop her off at her son's house, so they can continue on their trek to Walley World. However, once they get to Edna's son's house, they find that he has left for the weekend, and won't be back until Monday. So, Clark ties the dead Aunt Edna to a lawn chair in her son's backyard, and puts an umbrella in her hand, so she won't get wet from all the rain.
4. Who says, "I distinctly ordered the Antarctic blue super sports wagon with the CB and the optional rally fun pack"?

Answer: Clark

In the very beginning of the movie, Clark and Rusty take their old station wagon to the car dealership, in order to trade it in for a new car. When they get there and ask for their new car, the dealer shows them a hideous station wagon he calls "the Wagon Queen Family Truckster" in an even more hideous color, "Metallic Pea". Clark tells him that he's not interested in that car, and just wants the car he ordered, the super sports wagon.

However, the dealer tells him that it didn't come in, so Clark gets angry and asks to have his old car back.

When he gets it back, he finds that it has already been demolished, so he must take the Wagon Queen Family Truckster instead of the car he actually wants.
5. Who says, "You were the ones who sent me the fruitcake for Christmas...it made me so sick!"?

Answer: Aunt Edna

After Clark and Ellen arrive at Eddie's house in Kansas, they discover that Ellen's Aunt Edna is not only still alive, but she needs a ride back to Phoenix, which Clark is extremely unhappy about. When Aunt Edna comes outside to eat with the family, Clark and Ellen say hello to her, and she tries to remember who they are.

She finally remembers, and tells them all about the horrible fruitcake they sent her.
6. Clark says, "Dinkems needs a long walk and a bath".

Answer: False

Aunt Edna is actually the one who tells Clark that her dog ("Dinky", but she calls him "Dinkems") needs a long walk and a bath, after they arrive at a campground where they will be spending the night. After Aunt Edna tells Clark about Dinkems, Clark tells Rusty to take care of the dog. Rusty whines to Clark, saying "but dad, he bites!", and Clark replies "bite him back!".
7. Who says, "You've been exceeding the speed limit for thousands of miles"?

Answer: Aunt Edna

After Clark gets pulled over in Colorado, the police officer asks him to get out of the car, and shows him Dinky's (Aunt Edna's dog) leash tied to the rear bumper of the car. Apparently, Clark had forgotten to untie the dog from the bumper before they left the campground earlier that morning. Dinky was dragged along behind the car, causing him to die.

When Clark gets back in the car, he is trying his best to lie about the reason the policeman pulled him over, so Aunt Edna won't have a fit. Clark and Ellen try to convince everyone that Clark got pulled over because he was speeding, and that's when Aunt Edna pipes up and makes her comment about Clark exceeding the speed limit for thousands of miles.
8. Ellen says, "sit down and shut up...move out of that seat and I'll split your lip!" to Clark.

Answer: False

Ellen actually says this to her Aunt Edna. After Clark crashes the car in Arizona, everyone is shaken up and stunned, and they all walk around trying to pick up the luggage that fell off the car. However, when Aunt Edna tries to get out of the car, Ellen pushes her back in her seat, and tells her to stay in the car, because it is hot and dangerous out there. Aunt Edna tells her that she should never have come on the trip with them, and she continues on to say that Clark shouldn't even have a license to drive.

She tells Ellen that Clark should be behind bars, and that is when Ellen tells her to sit down and be quiet, and threatens to "split" her lip if she gets out.
9. Who says, "She breathed on me! A dead person breathed on me!"?

Answer: Audrey

After Ellen discovers that Aunt Edna is dead, Clark stops the car immediately, and everyone jumps out. Audrey runs around screaming "She breathed on me! A dead person breathed on me!", which of course, is not true, since dead people can't breathe. Everyone is really disgusted with the idea of riding with Aunt Edna's corpse in the car, so Clark covers her up and ties her to the roof of the car, so they can get her to her son's house in Phoenix.
10. Who says, "Vicki, can I help you with that Kool-Aid? Please?"?

Answer: Clark

When Eddie is cooking hamburgers, his oldest daughter, Vicki, is stirring a jar of Kool-Aid with her whole arm, which is clearly not very sanitary. Clark asks (and even begs) Vicki if he can take over stirring the Kool-Aid, as he is obviously very disturbed and disgusted at the idea of her arm being in the jar.
