Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is wrong with Jennifer Aniston? Not even Jake Gyllenhaal is worthy enough, for her to jeopardize her marriage. No wonder Winona Ryder is begging that Jennifer join her in a mental institution. Perhaps, Winona should ask crazy babe Angelina Jolie first if there is room for Jennifer.

Answer: The Good Girl, Interrupted

Jennifer Aniston, former Mrs. Brad Pitt, takes the Indie road with "The Good Girl". In the film, Aniston essays the role of an unhappy wife of an older man (John C. Reilly). Her loneliness in her marriage leads her to the arms of a withdrawn cashier (Jake Gyllenhaal).
Aniston and Gyllenhaal shine in this well-made drama from director Miguel
Arteta. Supporting this dynamic duo are Reilly, Zooey Deschanel, Deborah Harry, and Tim Blake Nelson.

Based on a true story, "Girl, Interrupted" follows the 18 month stint of writer Susana Kaysen (Ryder) in a mental institution. Taken in for an attempted suicide, Susana meets different girls who will greatly affect her life. Among these girls, she gravitates towards Lisa Rowe (Jolie), a violent sociopath. The film brings together a fine ensemble of actresses, including Ryder, Jolie, Brittany Murphy, Clea Duvall, and Whoopi Goldberg.
Angelina Jolie, the woman in Brad Pitt's life after Jennifer Aniston, won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for this film.
2. Legend has it that there is this loveable green creature who has sailed to search for the king's heir apparent. This legend, however, does not say if he set foot in Vienna where a writer is solving the pieces to Orson Welles's very, very mysterious death.

Answer: Shrek the Third Man

The green ogre is back in "Shrek the Third". This time the loveable ogre, who feels that he is not the rightful heir, has to sail the seas to find the other heir who will soon rule Far Far Away. Unknown to him, doom awaits the kingdom as the evil Prince Charming hatches a devious plan against the kingdom.
Featuring the voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas, Rupert Everett, Cameron Diaz, Julie Andrews, and Justin Timberlake, "Shrek the Third" once more entertains. But then, the first two are way, way better.

From ace director Sir Carol Reed, "The Third Man" follows the story of Holly Marten (Joseph Cotten), an unemployed pulp fiction writer. When he is offered a job in Vienna by Harry Lime (Orson Welles), Marten travels to the Austrian capital. Once there, he is surprised to find out that Lime has died in a mysterious accident.
An engaging suspense thriller, "The Third Man" has been nominated for three Oscars, including Best Director. The film also showcases topnotch performances from Joseph Cotten and Orson Welles.
3. Roseanne Barr is fuming mad. Who wouldn't be? Her husband is stolen by a trashy novelist who looks like Meryl Streep. The sweet smell of revenge is in the air. But wait...Roseanne is seeing two Meryls. The other one seems to be an evil fashion editor. Which is which?

Answer: She-Devil Wears Prada

An evil Meryl Streep surfaces in Susan Seidelman's "She-Devil". Here, the Oscar winner plays Mary Fisher, a romance novelist who is badly smitten with an accountant (Ed Begley, Jr.). Unfortunately he is married. His wife (Roseanne Barr), even with the excess poundage, is totally devoted. However, the charm of Mary Fisher is too potent to be ignored. When the loving wife finds out, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

In "The Devil Wears Prada", another deliciously evil Meryl Streep shows up. This time, she is the powerful editor-in-chief of a top fashion magazine. Everyone cowers when she is around. When Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) is hired as her assistant, Andrea's calvary begins.
4. A tiny rumor is floating around town. The gunslinger's name is not Clint Eastwood. No one knows who it is, but she looks a lot like Sharon Stone and she is in town to avenge her father's death. Leonardo di Caprio and Russell Crowe are on her list. Is Clint Eastwood on her list? No one knows as Clint is busy playing Dirty Harry. He is investigating celebrity murders. A rocker (Jim Carrey) is in fact the first victim.

Answer: The Quick and the Dead Pool

Directed by Sam Raimi, "The Quick and the Dead" follows the story of Ellen "The Lady" (Sharon Stone). With revenge in mind, she returns to the town where her father had been murdered. When she arrives, a gunfighting contest is under way. The mysterious gunslinger signs up and she comes face to face with the men whom she wants dead.
Supporting Sharon Stone in this action film are Leonardo di Caprio, Gene Hackman, Russell Crowe, and Gary Sinise.

"The Dead Pool" is the fifth of the "Dirty Harry" series. In this installment, the legendary Dirty Harry (Clint Eastwood) is tasked to solve the murder of a rocker (Jim Carrey). His investigation reveals that there is a diabolical game called "dead pool". In this game, the participants choose ten celebrities and pick out who will die first.
The film, which is directed by Buddy Van Horn, also stars Liam Neeson, Patricia Clarkson, and David Hunt.
5. Clint Eastwood is busy, busy, busy. He is hot on the trail of a sniper known as Scorpio. There is nothing "clean" about this. Perhaps, he needs the help of this young wizard who is now at his fourth year at a wizarding school. Unfortunately, the wizard has his hands full. After all, the Quidditch World Cup Final is set to begin.

Answer: Dirty Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

In 1971, the world was introduced to an action hero. His name is Inspector Harry Calahan, but he is better known as "Dirty Harry". Clint Eastwood plays the part in all of its five installments.
The first part is, not surprisingly, called "Dirty Harry". Here, the action hero is assigned to track down a madman who gets his thrill from sniping innocent people. When the sniper is caught, he is set free due to a technicality. Dirty Harry knows that the murders will start again and he knows that he is the only one who can put a stop to it.

All the five "Harry Potter" films feature Daniel Radcliffe in the title role.
In "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", the fourth installment of the successful movie franchise, the boy wizard steps into the halls of Hogwarts as a fourth year student. This time he is chosen to represent the school to the Quidditch World Cup Final. Unknown to Harry, his nemesis, Voldemort, is set to be reborn.
6. And so the legend continues. Mount Doom is getting closer and closer. However, for two small hobbits, named Sam and Frodo, time is running out. Will Gollum lead them to the right path? Sadly, Anna Leonowens cannot be there to lend a hand. She is on her way to the kingdom of Siam, where she will serve the king's children.

Answer: The Return of the King and I

Peter Jackson ends his grand "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy with a bang. Entitled "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King", the film follows the
perilous journey of Frodo Baggins and Sam to destroy the One Ring at Mount Doom. Accompanied by the duplicitous Gollum, the two hobbits brave the dangers that lie ahead of them. Elsewhere the fellowship is in a fierce battle to end all evil.
Winner of an Academy Award for Best Picture, the film gathers a cast of noteworthy performers, including Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Viggo Mortensen, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Ian McKellen, Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd, Liv Tyler, Sean Bean, Hugo Weaving, and Andy Serkis.

A well-loved classic, "The King and I" is a charming film that has introduced to the world unforgettable tunes like "Hello Young Lovers" and "Getting to Know You". Directed by Walter Lang, the film stars Deborah Kerr, Yul Brynner, and Rita Moreno.
In the film, Kerr portrays Anna Leonowens, a woman who has been picked by the king of Siam (Brynner) to educate his children and himself. Hoping to earn the respect reserved for world leaders, the king hopes that the smart Leonowens will be a great help. There is little surprise, of course, that things do not go as he has planned.
7. A scandal is brewing in a small neighborhood. Apparently Kate Winslet, who is very much married, is romancing the very unavailable Patrick Wilson. His wife, Jennifer Connelly, is perhaps too busy to notice? Word has it that she may join a band of rebels called The Fishes. The Fishes are transporting a pregnant woman. Is this the group which former activist Clive Owen joined?

Answer: Little Children of Men

The first film is the Oscar-nominated film, "Little Children".
Ably directed by Todd Field, the drama is a stunning tale of ordinary people caught up by their own sins. There is Sarah Pierce (Kate Winslet), a wife and a mother whose untidy home reflects the discontentment in her life. Similarly dissatisfied with his life is married father, Brad Adamson (Patrick Wilson). An encounter in a park leads these two into an adulterous affair.
Featuring noteworthy performances from Winslet, Wilson, Jackie Earl Haley, Jennifer Connelly, and Noah Emmerich, "Little Children" is one of the best films of 2006.

The second film is Alfonso Cuaron's "Children of Men". A well-crafted science fiction set in 2027, the film imagines a world where the last child was born twenty years before. The problem of human extinction becomes a terrifying reality. When a woman is discovered pregnant, a group of rebels band together to protect her.
"Children of Men" stars Clive Owen and Julianne Moore.
8. Be afraid. Be very afraid. Jaime Lee Curtis and her daughter Lindsay Lohan do not get along. Body switch, you say? Mrs. Pamela Voorhees does not think so. She thinks they need a day or two at Camp Crystal Lake.

Answer: Freaky Friday the 13th

Directed by Mark Waters, "Freaky Friday" is a hilarious comedy about a girl (Lindsay Lohan) who constantly bickers with her mother (Jaime Lee Curtis). They cannot seem to understand each other's differences. One strange Friday, two identical fortune cookies cause them to swap bodies.
A bit of a trivia:
In 1976, Jodie Foster played a girl who could not get along with her mother (Barbara Harris). One weird Friday, their personalities are switched. The title of the film is "Freaky Friday".
In 1995, Gaby Hoffmann played a girl who finds it difficult to understand her mother (Shelley Long). One strange Friday, they swap bodies. The title of this movie made for tv is "Freaky Friday".

Who has not heard of the slasher film "Friday the 13th"? The film, which introduced Jason Voorhees to movie audiences, takes place in a camp called Crystal Lake. In 1958, two camp counselors were brutally murdered. Four years later, plans of re-opening the camp failed, due to a fire. In 1979, the camp finally re-opens. What followed was a series of murders.
9. Leonardo di Caprio does not care if Paris is in the throes of starvation. After all, he is the king and all he wants is to have some fun. His twin brother may be his fly in the ointment. No wonder he has locked him up. Will the swashbuckling Anthony Hopkins be of help? Unfortunately, he has his own business to take care of. Training Antonio Banderas is not that easy! Catherine Zeta-Jones certainly can attest to that.

Answer: The Man in the Iron Mask of Zorro

"The Man in the Iron Mask", a film by Randall Wallace, casts Leonardo DiCaprio as the unscrupulous King Louis, who is more interested in chasing skirts than ruling France. His lack of leadership ability has taken its toll as France is ravaged by poverty and hunger. The unshakeable Musketeers decide to put an end to this travesty by plotting to unseat him. Unknown to them, the king has a twin brother who is locked up.
The film also stars Jeremy Irons, Gerard Depardieu, John Malkovich, Gabriel Byrne, Hugh Laurie, and Anne Parillaud.

Martin Campbell's "The Mask of Zorro" stars Anthony Hopkins as the original Zorro, who takes under his wing a cocky thief (Antonio Banderas) to be his successor. Zorro's nemesis is a ruthless governor who intends to rob the peasants of California. Catherine Zeta-Jones co-stars.
10. You heard it right. Will Shakespeare has found the right woman. Sadly, that woman is wearing men's clothes. What a messy love story. Trust Ernest Hemingway not to be left behind. He has also found a woman to love. She is a nurse and she looks like Sandra Bullock!

Answer: Shakespeare in Love and War

Academy Award Best Picture winner "Shakespeare in Love" is a delightful love story between a struggling playwright named William Shakespeare (Joseph Fiennes) and his greatest fan, Viola (Gwyneth Paltrow).
The beautiful Viola has always dreamt of becoming an actress, but the law of the land clearly says that only men can act. Disguising herself as a man, Viola auditions for the role of Romeo in Shakespeare's play "Romeo and Ethel, The Pirate's Daughter". Not surprisingly, she soon falls in love with the bard.

Richard Attenborough's "In Love and War" chronicles the love story of Ernest Hemingway (Chris O'Donnell) and Agnes von Kurowsky (Sandra Bullock). As World War I escalates, Hemingway is left under the care of Kurowsky, an American Red Cross nurse, when he is shot in the leg. This starts a beautiful love story between the writer and the nurse.
