Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What does Linda remind her daughters not to forget before she drops them off at school?

Answer: their lunches

Linda must feel like she has the worst case of deja vu! Linda is shown dropping the girls off at school several times, both pre- and post-Jim's death and each time turns around in her seat to hand the girls their lunches. When she picks the girls up from school on Thursday, shortly after being told that Jim is dead, Linda is visibly shaken and the girls can sense something is wrong.

It isn't until they get home that Linda tells Bridgette and Megan that their father was killed.
2. After Linda drops the girls off at school, we see her going through her day to day activities. What is something she does not do?

Answer: bake brownies

Linda takes a jog, showers, does laundry and calls her best friend Annie. She remarks to Annie that it is Thursday and that she doesn't know where the week has gone. This is a critical moment since her remarking that it is Thursday helps the viewers start to put together the time line of Linda's premonition. Shortly after hanging up with Annie, Linda gets a visit from the sheriff who reports to her that her husband Jim had been killed in a car accident the previous day.
3. Is Jim having an affair with Claire?

Answer: No

Linda starts to suspect that Jim is being unfaithful to her, especially when she sees Claire at Jim's funeral, and then meets her again before Jim dies. Linda admits to Annie that she and Jim have become more like roommates instead of husband and wife. She also starts to wonder if it is better that Jim dies so as to spare her and the children the pain of a betrayal.
4. Why does Linda's mom try to have Linda committed to a mental facility?

Answer: She hurt her daughter.

Linda wakes up after finding out Jim is dead and sees that her daughter's face has been severely cut and is covered in stitches, but Linda doesn't know how she got that way. Linda's mom thinks that maybe Linda is abusing the daughter and calls the authorities to take Linda away.

Are you confused yet? I was too! Linda wakes up post-Jim's death (Friday) to find her daughter's face cut. However, at that moment Linda hasn't experienced Bridgette's accident from Monday, and that is why she can't account for her daughter's injuries to her mom. Remember, all of these events are happening out of sequence - Thursday, Monday, Friday, Sunday, Saturday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Phew!
5. Where are the girls going when Bridgette has her accident?

Answer: to take the laundry in

It starts raining and Linda realizes that all of her laundry is still hanging outside. She calls the girls to help her retrieve the sheets before they get soaked and Bridgette runs ahead of her sister, not realizing that the sliding door is closed. She goes crashing through it, severely cutting her face and requiring dozens of stitches.

Later when Jim is cleaning up the broken glass, he asks Linda why she didn't put up stickers on the sliding doors so the girls would see when the door was closed. She remarks that she had - or at least she thought she had. Remember, as the movie progresses, Linda's week is happening out of order and the viewers do see her putting stickers on the windows on Thursday, but Bridgette's accident happens earlier in the week.
6. Linda makes a timeline of the week's events that include Jim's death, Bridgette's accident and her being committed to the mental hospital. Where does she hide this timeline?

Answer: under the tablecloth

Jim is alive when she starts making the timeline and she desperately tries to fill in the week's events so that she can potentially prevent Jim's death - or at least prevent the other things that she sees have happened, like her daughter's accident or her own mental breakdown.
7. Does Father Kennedy believe that Linda is having premonitions?

Answer: Yes

Linda seeks out Dr. Roth, a psychiatrist who apparently prescribed her medication but whom she doesn't remember ever meeting. When she does finally track him down and tells the doctor about her visions, he immediately thinks she is having a mental breakdown and asks her questions about her family's mental health and her emotional state. He gives her a prescription of Lithium which she later throws down the drain because she knows she isn't crazy.

Linda then goes to consult with Father Kennedy who is much more sympathetic. He reads her stories of others who have had premonitions. Father believes Linda and tells her that those who experience premonitions very often are driven by a lack of faith. Linda initially doesn't know what to have faith in, but later realizes that her faith will come from her love for her husband and her daughters.

I thought her meeting with the priest was so touching because it showed Linda's absolute desperation and her devotion to her family. She can see the future and knows no one can help her change it.
8. How does Jim change his life insurance policy?

Answer: triples the coverage

Linda goes to see her insurance broker and is shocked to learn that Jim had tripled his insurance the day before he left on his business trip. Linda and the girls are now financially secure and the banker assures her that because Jim's death was proven to be an accident, she'll have her money shortly.

After her visit with the broker, Linda visits a lakeside housing community where a divorcee tells her that it is a perfect place to start over.
9. What does Jim tell Linda the purpose of his business trip is?

Answer: job interview

We don't know what kind of job he is interviewing for but he tells Linda that he must go and that it would be good for them to have some distance from each other. While the story of the interview is true, what Jim doesn't tell Linda is that he is also secretly meeting Claire and potentially starting an extramarital affair with her.

On Wednesday, the day that Jim leaves for his trip, he calls Claire from his cell phone to tell her that he can't go through with their tryst and Claire is left disappointed while Jim feels renewed in his love for his wife.
10. Does Linda's premonition about Jim's death come true?

Answer: Yes

Sadly, Linda is the one responsible for Jim's death. The morning of his business trip, Linda races after him in her car and is speaking to him on his cell phone, telling him she loves him and wants to make their marriage work. He loves her too and you can tell they are going to be alright together. She asks him to pull over and turn around because she knows from her premonition that he is near mile marker 220 where he will be killed. She thinks that by having him turn around, she can prevent his death. However, his car stalls in the middle of the road and a truck comes up over the hill and is unable to avoid hitting him. He is killed instantly in front of Linda. What a heartbreak!

In the end, she couldn't prevent Jim's death but did find peace and faith in their love together.
