The movie opened with Grimm riding on the subway dressed as a clown, carrying a bunch of balloons. As Grimm walked up to the bank's door, the security guard was getting ready to lock up. Grimm blocked the door with his clown shoe and pointed a gun at the guard. He and the guard went inside, but Grimm couldn't convince everyone it really was a robbery until he fired a couple of shots.

Grimm spoke with Rotzinger by phone and said he wanted to be called Chip, but then changed it to Skip. In addition to the monster truck, his demands included a city bus, a Harley Davidson XL1000 and two JetRanger helicopters. After the helicopters arrived, the first hostage, a lumberjack-type man who had annoyed the other hostages with his crying (Loomis), was released.

After the bus and motorcycle arrived, two more hostages, a blond woman and a sniveling man (Phyllis and Grimm) were released. The monster truck, named Macho Maniac, arrived after Grimm was out of the bank.

Having escaped by disguising themselves as released hostages, Grimm, Phyllis and Loomis celebrated their success. Grimm needed to place a call to Chief Rotzinger before the Chief suspected that the bank robber was already out. During the call, Grimm told the Chief that the monster truck didn't have a tilting hydraulic body, buying himself more time.

The Chief said that would take a while to get, but just before Grimm hung up the phone, Loomis accidentally leaned on the car horn. Grimm tried to cover, but the Chief heard it and figured out that "Skip" wasn't in the bank. Grimm told Loomis he could've had Rotzinger believing he was still in there all night.

Answer: The yuppie robbed them.

After the phone incident, all they had to do was drive to the airport to catch their plane for Fiji. Loomis missed the exit for the BQE because of construction, and then they spent awhile riding around looking for something familiar. Grimm figured it would be safe to talk to the yuppie because the guy had Iowa plates on his car. Grimm walked over to where the man had laid out a map, but after asking about Iowa, Grimm was told by the man that the car was stolen.

The yuppie then pulled out a gun and robbed them of their suitcases.

He didn't get the money from the bank robbery because Grimm, Loomis and Phyllis had it taped under their clothing.

Since their suitcases were stolen, Phyllis suggested they stop by her old apartment because she had left some clothing there. Loomis parked the car in front of a fire hydrant, thinking they would only be a few minutes. While waiting for Phyllis and Grimm, Loomis noticed smoke from a building across the street. Meanwhile, the new tenants came in and were convinced they were being robbed because Grimm was holding their TV.

The man held a gun on them while Grimm tried to convince the couple they weren't burglars. Phyllis, Grimm and Loomis watched from the window as the fire department pushed their car away from the hydrant.

They kept watching as it rolled down the street and over an embankment.

Answer: Loomis jumped out of the cab while it was moving.

Grimm told Phyllis he had also made a later reservation for Martinique thinking they might not make the Fiji flight. Phyllis didn't like him keeping things from her, but realized he had done it so she wouldn't worry. She was just about to tell Grimm her important news, when the cabbie said something in his native language.

They realized the cabbie couldn't understand that they wanted to go to the airport, but Loomis really started panicking after the cabbie ran a red light. Loomis saw another cab on the side of the road and opened the door to get out.

He came out running but ran into the side of a newstand and then fell to the ground. Grimm and Phyllis tried to revive Loomis, while the cabbie panicked and drove off.

Answer: A mob warehouse

First the cops arrived in response to a man jumping out of a moving cab, then the cab driver returned to the scene, consumed with guilt. Just before the police arrived, Phyllis and Grimm had gotten Loomis up and were walking down the street. Fearing the cabbie would point them out to the police, the three of them quickly went in the nearest door.

They walked in to find a warehouse full of stolen goods and mobsters counting money. Grimm talked their way out of it by pretending to be the new bagman for Lombino.

The mobster, Skelton, gave Grimm $6,000, the payment for Lombino.

When they exited the warehouse, Grimm, Loomis and Phyllis saw a city bus pull up to the stop. The driver was a real stickler for details and refused to let them board without exact change, so Grimm snuck across the street to change his money at a store. Meanwhile, Mario, the real bagman for Lombino, arrived looking for his money from the mobsters.

As their time ran out before the bus driver was scheduled to leave, Grimm came running across the street just as he was pointed out to Mario. At the same time, the cab driver pointed out Phyllis and Loomis to the police.

The police managed to mistakenly grab Mario, just as the bus, with Phyllis, Grimm and Loomis on board, drove off.

Answer: She was pregnant.

Phyllis started to tell Grimm about the baby on several occasions, but kept being interrupted. She told Loomis on the bus, but said she might not tell Grimm because she wasn't sure if she was going to go with them to Martinique. She felt Grimm had changed since the bank robbery and wasn't sure there was room for a baby in his life.

After a humorous incident where a guy with a guitar tried unsuccessfully to get on the bus, Grimm and his friends got off near the airport. They were making their way slowly, since Loomis had hurt his leg when he jumped from the cab, when they saw a tram for JFK airport. Loomis let it slip that Phyllis couldn't ride on it in her condition, and Grimm asked why she hadn't told him.

She said she wasn't going with them, but Grimm gave her the ticket and asked her to meet them on the plane.

After speaking to Mario and the cabbie, Rotzinger said they were heading for the airport. At the airport, we heard him discuss arresting 'him' on the plane when he was sure not to have a weapon. Grimm and Loomis boarded the plane, but didn't see Phyllis anywhere. Grimm said he was going to get off the plane and find Phyllis, but just then he and Loomis saw Rotzinger approaching.

A rude passenger named Russ Crane jumped up when he saw Rotzinger and began struggling with him. Grimm and Loomis realized they weren't the target and began trying to help Rotzinger. Just as Crane (who was really Lombino) picked up the Chief's gun, the lavatory door opened and hit him in the head. Grimm and Loomis were happy to see Phyllis poke her head out, but signalled that they weren't being arrested when she began putting her hands up. Chief Rotzinger asked Grimm his name so they could send him a commendation, but it wasn't until the plane was taking off and Rotzinger was getting in his car that the Chief realized the name similarity, and that he had just let the bank robber get away.
