When Linguine learned that Remy could cook, he referred to Remy as "Little chef". The cooks in Gusteau's kitchen heard Linguine refer to "Little chef", but didn't know he was speaking about Remy. The letter was hidden by Chef Skinner until Remy found it.

When Remy found a place with Linguine at Gusteau's restaurant, he told Django he was leaving the nest. Django told him they weren't birds, they were rats. Remy explained to his dad that he wanted to make things that people loved. When Django mentioned to his Remy that sounded human, Remy told him humans weren't as bad as they thought.

After Linguine took all the credit for making the food that Remy actually made. Remy and Linguine had an argument and Linguine threw Remy out of the restaurant. As payback, Remy invited his family into the restaurant after hours to eat out of the pantry. When Linguine returned to the restaurant to apologize to Remy, he found Remy's family eating all the food in the pantry.

While Linguine waited on tables, Remy and Colette made ratatouille for Anton Ego, the restaurant critic who ruined Gusteau. When Anton ate the ratatouille, he was taken back to a time in his childhood when his mother made ratatouille the same way. Linguine made Anton wait until after closing to meet Remy. Anton gave Gusteau's a raving review, but it wasn't enough to save the restaurant. Due to the rats in the kitchen, Gusteau's restaurant was shut down. Anton, however, helped Linguine, Colette, and Remy start their own restaurant.
