"Some Kind of Wonderful" is one of John Hughes's better writing efforts. It was directed by Howard Deutch, who later became Lea Thompson's husband, with wonderful performances by Eric Stoltz as Keith, Mary Stuart Masterson as Watts, Lea Thompson as Amanda, and Craig Sheffer as Amanda's boyfriend, Hardy. Molly Ringwald was originally offered the role of Amanda, but turned it down.
