When Jenny was notified that her mother, Robin, committed suicide, she went to the morgue and claimed the items that her mother had on. It was never said or shown if she claimed her mother's body or buried it. While at the morgue, it is said that her mother was 61 years-old, and this was the only time we hear her mother's name.

That discovery was a comet, which is heading on a direct path toward Earth. The President says that Earth gets hit all the time with rocks and meteors, some no bigger than your hand and some the size of cars, but the comet that was spotted is as wide as the north side of Central Park to the Battery, and weighs 500 billion tons. He says to put it another way, the comet is larger than Mt. Everest.

Rittenhouse then confronts her, and she tells him that he has to have a better excuse than a sick wife. She also tells him that she knows all about "Elly," and then informs him that she's going to go public with the information. Rittenhouse looks shocked, and said "I know you're a reporter and that you're just doing your job, but you used to be person." He then says that she's just discovered the biggest story of the world, and then walks away. Jenny looks on, very confused.

When the men have only 24 minutes left, the mole that Oren is working with becomes jammed. He goes in and discovers that the mole is jammed against the side of cavernous opening. Racing against time, Oren tries to dislodge the mole, but with a little over a minute left, he decides to jump on it. The begins burrowing on its way, but by this time the horizon is breaching. The five astronauts immediately put their sun visors down, except Oren, who is still with the mole. Explosive outgases shoot up everywhere, and Oren is shot out of the hole. His sun visor is still open and he screams in pain as the sun burns his eyes and blinds him. Because all the astronauts are tethered, Oren doesn't float off into space.

During his research, he discovers that it's a comet that was discovered, and so he wants to see where the comet is heading. He inserts a floppy disk to copy what he is seeing on his computer screen, and races off, but not before labeling the envelope "Wolf-Biederman."

President Beck confronts Jenny, and asks "What do you know about the E.L.E.?", and Jenny responds "I think you should have a better cover story than a sick wife.", and President Beck says to his men "See, what did I tell you." Then the President says "We always felt that the news should be released when the national budget was released." Jenny says that the public had the right to know, to which the President asks if she could wait 48 hours, and that he'll let her sit second row center at the press conference. Jenny then demands exclusivity, but the President denies it. Jenny then demands the first question, and the President says, "Demand?", which makes Jenny ask if should could have the first question. The President consents to this and then says after the first question, she's on her own. The President leaves, and Jenny is left wondering what could be so big, and what is the E.L.E.

The truck driver, who was doing too many things at once: smoking, drinking soda, and turning up the volume of the radio, dropped his cigarette between his legs. He fumbles around so as not to get burned, and in the process, he doesn't see Dr. Wolf, who by this time had stopped using his cell phone. The jeep and the truck collide, and as they collide we see the envelope, which had "Wolf-Biederman" written on it, fly out the window. This is the last we see of the truck driver and Dr. Wolf.
