Richards refuses to fire upon unarmed civilians, including women and children, in a food riot in Bakersfield, California. When he refuses, Richards is framed for the massacre - and so he is known as The Butcher of Bakersfield.

2. On "The Running Man" game show, the contestants are criminals who have yet to pay their debt to society. They are hunted down by brutal gladiators known as what?

Answer: Stalkers

If the contestants manage to survive the Stalkers for the duration of the show, they are pardoned for their crimes. The Stalkers include - Buzz-Saw, Sub-Zero, Fireball, Dynamo and Captain Freedom.

The movie takes place in a corrupt and violent Los Angeles society, where violence and death are the norm and martial law rules.
