Lori forced her way in the casting director's office by pretending to be a courier delivering balloons. While she was in the office, a call came in from the set. They were looking for "good-looking homeless - this bunch is disgusting." Lori was hired on the spot to play a "good-looking" homeless extra.

Lori Craven was played by Elisabeth Shue.

The casting director, Betsy Faye Sharon, was played by Carrie Fisher, who is better known for her role as Princess Leia in the "Star Wars" movies.

When the show tried to bring back the Rod Randall character, the head writer, Rose, protested because Rod was dead - he was killed in 1973 in an auto accident. It means he doesn't have a head. How am I supposed to write for a guy that doesn't have a head? He's got no lips, no vocal chords. What do you want me to do?"

David Seton Barnes was played by Robert Downey, Jr.

Celeste was afraid that the show was going to bring in John Farbstein to play her new love interest, Rod Randall. She complained about his yellow teeth and long nose hair. She was more horrified when she finds out that the role would actually be filled by the original actor, Jeffrey Anderson, who she had driven off the show years before.

Jeffrey Anderson was played by Kevin Kline.

When the young Celeste became pregnant, the show made her sign a contract saying that she would never mention the baby. She went home to Iowa to have the baby, and gave Lori to her own mother to raise. And then the show told everyone I had TB, and sent my character to a sanitarium in Tierra del Fuego."

Celeste thought the turban made her look old. She claimed to feel like Gloria Swanson - a reference to the leopard-patterned scarf Swanson had wrapped around her head in the movie "Sunset Boulevard". Celeste set Tawny straight on the issue by telling her: "Gloria Swanson is dead, see. I don't mean dead in a sense. I mean actually dead. I'm forty-two years old. I don't want to be dressed like a dead woman. Can you understand that?"

Later, Celeste voluntarily wore that very same turban in public the night she was stalking Lori and Jeffrey.

Tawny Miller was played by Kathy Najimy, who played Sister Mary Patrick in the "Sister Act" movies.

Lori recognized Celeste's speech from the Thanksgiving episode, when Maggie met Bolt's blind nephew. She immediately became infuriated, and threw her mother out of her dressing room.

Jeffrey was playing Willy Loman in a dinner theater production of "Death of a Salesman". When David met with him in his dressing room, he confessed that he had an idea for a one-man production of Hamlet, which he would like to act out on Broadway. Instead, David offered him his old job back. He would resurrect the role of Rod Randall, who was now a doctor who had been studying in Vienna. Jeffrey explaines his experience in dinner theater to Celeste, whom he blamed for putting him there:

"You try playing Willy Loman in front of a bunch of old farts eating meatloaf - chewing, and slurping, and spitting out their pits. Every night listening to them coughing, and hocking, and wrenching."

Rose crashed onto the set to present evidence that Montana could not be pregnant with Jeffrey's child, as she was claiming. She was introduced in the scene as Dr. Franz Blau of the sex-change clinic in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Blau informed the audience:

"After extensive investigation, I have come to the conclusion that it is virtually impossible for you to have impregnated your nurse, Montana Moorehead, because before she came to our little clinic, she was... Milton Moorehead of Syosset, Long Island."

Montana Moorehead was played Cathy Moriarty.

Ariel escorted Rose onto the set and introduced her as Dr. Franz Blau. The yearbook, "The Mohawks", that Rose used as a prop was provided to her by Ariel. Ariel was trying to get back at Montana because she thought Montana slept with Jeffrey. She told Montana previously that she was interested in him, and that Montana was not to pursue him: "He's mine. You touch, you die."
