Jim Cameron says that he visited Atascadero for research purposes, so that he could get a good idea about how to set the scenes at 'Pescadero'. He was particularly interested in the security measures (such as the perimeter fencing and the sally ports) and the hospital procedures (such as patient restraint). Atascadero (aka ASH) is an all-male maximum-security facility. ASH opened in 1954 and is a completely self-contained psychiatric hospital constructed within a security perimeter.

It has a licensed capacity of 1001 beds and employs over 1800 staff. All of the hospitals listed in the question are situated in California.

By the way, Camarillo is thought by some to have inspired the song 'Hotel California' by The Eagles. Patton State Hospital is based in San Bernardino (the same city where Sarah Connor's mum is scripted to have lived in the first film).

The Lakeview Terrace Medical Centre was the location used to film the hospital scenes. This hospital had ceased to function due to seismic damage.

Silberman is the name of the Psychiatrist at 'Pescadero' who had also interviewed Sarah and Kyle Reese in the police station in the first 'Terminator' film. Voight is the surname of John's foster parents, Todd and Janelle. A man named Gant was originally scripted to be one of the boyfriends that John talks to the Terminator about -- he hit Sarah, and had an alcohol addiction.

He was scripted to be an ex-Green Beret who had taught Sarah and John all they knew about survival. In this version of the script, Enrique Salceda was supposed to be one of the men who worked for Gant.

In the released versions of 'T2', Enrique was cast to play the man who has taught Sarah about survival and Gant neither appears, nor is mentioned by name. Enrique Salceda was played by Castulo Guerra.

Lewis and his duplicate were played by identical twins Don and Dan Stanton. Both were needed in the scene when the 'T-1000' impersonates him and then kills him.

Todd is the name of John's male foster parent. Edward is the real first name of the actor who played John Connor, but throughout the 'Making of T2' special, he is referred to as 'Eddie'. Danny is the name of Miles Dyson's son. Tim, scripted as John's friend, is described as a 'thirteen-year-old Hispanic kid,' and is played by Danny Cooksey.

Leslie Hamilton Gearran is Linda Hamilton's twin sister, who played an extremely useful part in the film: she played Linda's mirror reflection in the scene where the Terminator's 'read-only' CPU is switched to the 'learning' mode. Unfortunately this scene ended up on the cutting room floor in the original version, but was resurrected by Cameron for the extended 'remix' version!

James Cameron wanted the actor to provide a good contrast for Arnie's musclebound Terminator. He had to be fast and agile, with a sleek and powerful look, to present a contest to the Terminator, but not necessarily a physical one. Cameron says: 'If the T-800 series can be compared to a human Panzer tank, then the T-1000 series is a Porsche'.

He wanted the T-1000 to be the perfect chameleon: to be able to blend in well with his environment and to analyse and sense everything around him. Robert Patrick was just such a man!
