Tim McGraw plays Sean Tuohy, the long suffering husband. He owns 85 fast food franchises in Memphis and is therefore independently wealthy. According to his son he was a basketball star at Ole Miss.

Known as a Country superstar, McGraw first gained critical acclaim for his acting in the movie "Friday Night Lights". He went on to further accolades for playing the father in the film "Flicka". His song "Southern Voice" is used as the closing credits song in "The Blind Side".

The title of "The Blind Side" is explained by telling the story of Lawrence Taylor's (LT) sack. LT came from the blind side, the side of the field towards which a quarterback is not facing when he drops back and therefore cannot see what is coming. Since most quarterbacks are right handed, the left tackle becomes the man who must protect the quarterback's blind side.

LT revolutionized the way the position of linebacker was played, especially when it came to blitzing the quarterback. Coaches were forced to develop new ways of blocking because of his play. The position of left tackle became of utmost importance in dealing with the threat from players like LT.

Joe Theismann's injury is considered one of the most infamous football injuries in the history of the sport. This is mostly because the cameras televising the game caught the action completely and the injury can be seen while it occurs. He never saw LT coming because LT came from his blind side. There was nothing malicious in what LT did and he was the first to realize how bad it was and to call for help from the Redskins' sideline.

This play is used to explain why the position that Michael Oher plays, that of left tackle, is so important to a football team. He protects the quarterback's blind side.

There is no explanation in the movie as to why Leigh Anne hates the University of Tennessee, just that she does and that she roots against them. At one point there is a question as to where Michael will go to college and Leigh Anne tells him he should go to Tennessee and she will come to all of the games to cheer for him but she says, "I will not wear that gaudy orange, I will not.

Michael must write an essay to pass one of his classes and he doesn't know what to write about. It has to be on a famous work of English literature. When the tutor mentions "The Charge of the Light Brigade" Sean Tuohy starts to recite it then tells Michael all about it.

He likens the poem to going to play in LSU's stadium nicknamed 'Death Valley' and helps Michael understand the poem as it relates to football. Michael writes the essay and passes the class.

Answer: Volleyball

One of the first things we see the Tuohy family doing is watching their daughter play in a volleyball game. It is also one of the first times Sean notices Michael in the stands picking up leftover food. We also see her later on as a cheerleader during Michael's football games. In real life, the Tuohy daughter, Collins, was a state champion pole vaulter.

Kathy Bates plays the role of Michael's tutor, Miss Sue. When she is interviewing with Leigh Anne she tells Leigh Anne she has something she needs to tell her before they hire her to tutor Michael, acting like it is some deep dark secret she is about to reveal. She then says that she is a Democrat, like it is something to be ashamed of. Sean later remarks to Leigh Anne, "Who would've thought we'd have a black son before we met a Democrat?"

Bates won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in "Misery". She has worked as an actress on stage, television and the big screen. She has also worked as a director on television.

Michael's coach is surprised by how passive he seems to be playing football, expecting him to be aggressive because of his background. Instead he is very gentle. Leigh Anne likens him to the bull Ferdinand in the children's book "Ferdinand the Bull". Ferdinand would rather smell roses than fight.

But Leigh Anne knows the results of Michael's testing and uses that to help motivate him on the football field.

When Leigh Anne is looking for Michael she goes back to his old neighborhood where he has just beat up three of the tough guys for threatening his adoptive family. One of these hoodlums threatens Michael if he ever sees him again and Leigh Anne replies that she is a member of the NRA and always packing. NRA stands for National Rifle Association, a gun rights advocacy group.

She also says that she is in a prayer group with the DA but never claims to be part of the DA.

The Baltimore Ravens selected Michael number one in the draft in 2009. He is a starter for the team at left tackle. The Ravens traded up to make sure they got Michael. The movie ends with real footage of draft day and of the real Michael Oher, not the actor who played him. There is also footage of the real Tuohys from that day.
