We first figure out Melody's name when Ariel sings it in a lullaby at the beginning. Her name was decided by Ariel's love of singing.

As the movie goes on we learn that Melody loves the sea, despite being forbidden to go in it, and that she is also friendly and just a bit stubborn.

Morgana uses some of her Ursula's stolen magic to turn Melody into a mermaid, and later says Melody has to steal the Trident to become a mermaid forever. Melody has black hair like her father, Eric. He is the King of the land and a devoted father. Melody gets her singing voice from her mother, who was born as a mermaid but thanks to her father's, King Triton, power she was turned into a human.

In the first movie Flounder was small and Ariel always referred to him as a 'guppy' whenever he tried to back out of some adventure. Now he is no longer a guppy. Flounder has grown a lot and even has five children of his own, but we never find out who the mother is.

After Morgana turns Melody into a mermaid she is sitting on the ice with a red tail replacing her feet. It is a different color from her mother's; Ariel has a green tail.

Tip is the penguin and Dash is the walrus who are trying to be heroes but always seem to fail. They help Melody to steal the trident and they sing their own theme song to her. At the end of the movie when Melody falls off the ice cliff, Dash jumps under her and cushions her fall with his large belly.

Melody sneaks up the tower of ice and, after escaping from Morgana's tentacles, throws the trident down to her grandfather, King Tritan.

"Grandfather? I think this belongs to you."

He then uses the trident to break the spell that had placed on the others and to encase Morgana in a block of ice, sending her down to the deep depths of the sea.

The map is made of ice so when Melody loses her grip, it smashes when it hits the ground. This is right before she meets Tip and Dash.
