Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the end credits of "Monsters Inc", there is a video-clip of a character from an older Disney/Pixar film trying out for the part of Ted. Who is that Disney character?

Answer: Rex - "Toy Story"

"See Mikey, Ted's walking to work..."
"Big deal, the guy takes five steps and he's there!"
The character, Ted, is seen right after the debate between Mike and Sully about taking Mike's new car to work. At the end credits, Rex of "Toy Story" is seen trying out for Ted's part in that scene. You only see the bottom of half of him because the camera angle is set to make him look tall.
Fun Fact:
In a shot of Monstropolis you can see a Hidden City Cafe, which is a real cafe in Richmond, California. It's the director's favorite cafe. Also, pay attention to the opening scene. Under the bed during the scare demo, there are two blocks with bold letters on them: "M" and "I" standing for "Monsters, Inc" one can assume.
2. In the film, "Toy Story", when Woody and Buzz are on the remote-control car trying to get back into the moving van, Molly sees them through the side mirror of the car. There is a Disney song playing in the car during that scene as she is laughing at the sight of the two toys stretched onto the highway by a slinky. What are Molly and family listening to?

Answer: Hakuna Matata

This is another example of Disney sneaking in a hint of the past in their films, as they do with every single movie they make. Toward the end of the movie, after Buzz and Woody have escaped Sid's house, the toys in the moving van try to help the prodigals back into the vehicle using Slink to stretch out and grab them. It is during this attempt that Molly, (in the car ahead of the moving van) sees the action from the side mirror.
"Toy Story" stars by Tim Allen, Tom Hanks, John Ratzenburger, and Eric von Detten.
3. In "The Princess Diaries", when Lily first sees Mia's makeover, whose hair does Lily compare Mia's to?

Answer: Lana's

After the scene when Paolo transforms Mia from frizzball to young woman, Mia pulls up in the limo to pick up Lily and Michael for school. In a jealous rant, Lily refers to Mia's hair as a "Lana Doo", outraged and afraid that Mia has sold out and become better than Lily. Joe asks Mia later, "Was my rear view mirror fogging up or was someone tearing back there?"
Check it out: There's a "Mickey"-shaped image in Mia's tiara in the ball scene, which is on the poster and the CD cover. The little "Mickey" image is on the tiara and is shaped from diamonds.
4. In "Ratatouille", what is Gusteu's famous saying?

Answer: anyone can cook

"Just because anyone CAN doesn't mean everyone SHOULD!" Remy cries out to his imaginary figure of Gusteu. This cookbook is seen in several shots of the beginning scenes when Remy and Amille are in the kitchen looking for safron seasoning. Gusteu is also seen on a television show while the rats are inside the house, and he signs off with, "anyone can cook!"

A few fun facts about the movie:

It is reported that in the movie over 270 food pieces were made, then people took pictures of them, and later animated them. Over four thousand, five-hundred different pictures of Paris, France were shot. The movie's producer took an internship at a fine dining restaurant. Head Chef Skinner was based after a real guy named B.F. Skinner... he was a behavioral psychologist who did rat experiments.
5. In the movie "Cars", during the end credits, the cars go to a drive in movie where car versions of three older Disney movies are shown. Which one was NOT a movie shown at the drive-in?

Answer: Antz

"Antz" actually is not a Disney/Pixar film at all. This clip is seen after the movie has ended and the credits are scrolling by. Mater, McQueen, and the gang are all present and watch the "car" version of the older films.
In the movie Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Billy Crystal, John Goodman and Dave Foley play the car versions of their former roles in Pixar films - "Toy Story", "Monsters Inc" and "A Bug's Life".
6. Which book inspired "Meet The Robinsons"?

Answer: A Day with Wilbur Robinson

Lewis is an orphan boy who really yearns to belong to a family. His less-than-ordinary life becomes a wild adventure when a boy named Wilbur Robinson takes him into the future. I've never read "A Day with Wilbur Robinson" by William Joyce, but the movie is a classic for sure!
7. In the original cartoon version of Disney's "101 Dalmatians", what workers do Horace and Jasper pose as in order to get into Roger and Anita's home?

Answer: electric company

They do pose as workers for an electric company. It is the scene where Horace and Jasper wait patiently in their van and watch Anita and Roger go to the park for their walk one evening. Knowing that the nanny is home alone, they make their move.
In the movie, "101 Dalmatians," get this, there are precisely 6,469,952 spots on all of the 101 Dalmatians combined. This can be calculated from the 113,760 different camera angles of the film. Crazy huh? It's true!
8. In "The Great Mouse Detective", when Basil is with Olivia on the hunt for the one-legged bat, which Disney character from the past is sitting on the toy-shelf with the others?

Answer: Dumbo

This is when Basil and Olivia stop at the toyshop in the middle of the night to look for Olivia's captive father. This scene takes place right after the scene where Olivia is in Basil's home, watching him play violin. As they are following the tracks of the bat, in the background there are shelves of toys that her father has made, and among them sits Dumbo.
9. In the film, "Beauty and the Beast", which character is thought by the villagers to be mentally crazy?

Answer: Maurice

Although the Beast has a horrid reputation and is feared, nowhere in the the film is he referred to as "Crazy". Gaston is the one who speaks for the village by at least twice referring to Maurice as the "crazy old man", or a "lunatic".
"Beauty and the Beast" received the first ever "Best Picture" nomination for an animated movie. The movie is a gripping tale of moral and physical differences being overcome and love being found in the most unlikely circumstances.
10. In the film, "Mary Poppins", which of the following is NOT among the out-of-the-ordinary things that Mary does?

Answer: feed the birds

Toward the end of the film before the "chimney sweep scene" with Dick Van Dyke, Mary uses chimney smoke to make a staircase leading to a breath-taking view of London. In the beginning of the movie after obtaining the nanny position, Mary slides UP the staircase instead of walking. She does defy gravity during the "laughter" scene when Burt and the children have tea on the ceiling. Although Julie Andrews sings about "feeding the birds", she is not actually seen doing so.

Funny thing, when Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews) is in the interview with the Banks', her gloves are white during the first few shots. But when the camera moves in close to let us see the ripping in her newspaper ad, the gloves are black, not white.
