"The Philadelphia Story" was based on a Broadway play of the same name by Philip Barry that was released just a year prior to the movie. Katherine Hepburn plays the character of Tracy Lord who is engaged to a man named George Kittredge but at the same time she has feelings for two other men including her ex-husband. Tracy eventually breaks off her marriage to George and reunites with her ex-husband Dexter.

Possibly more than any other movie child, Ralphie in "A Christmas Story" knew what he wanted. His quest to get a Red Ryder BB gun is a focal point of the film and in the end he eventually gets his wish. As his parents had warned him, after he uses the BB gun he nearly gets shot in the eye after a BB bounced back at him and knocked off his glasses.

"West Side Story" was the first musical to win at least 10 Academy Awards. The film tells the story of the quest for love between Maria, who is Puerto Rican, and Tony, who is American. Much of the tension within the film lies between two rival gangs known as the Jets (Americans) and Sharks (Puerto Ricans) and the film ends tragically with some of the main characters dying.

"Love Story" focuses on the lives of Oliver who attends Harvard and Jennifer who attends Radcliffe. While Oliver comes from a very wealthy family, Jennifer's family is less affluent. These differences cause their parents to not support their marriage. Tragically Jennifer develops a terminal illness and dies at a very young age.

As can be inferred from the title, "A Cinderella Story" shares many plot similarities with the classic 1950 Disney film "Cinderella". In the film Samantha Montgomery's father is killed while saving her stepmother Fiona during an earthquake. Samanatha's stepmother and stepsisters torment her and she has a dream of going to Princeton but, after her father died without a will, all of his money went to Fiona and Samantha doesn't know if her dream is possible. Fiona eventually gets arrested after stealing money and Samantha becomes the owner of her father's restaurant.

Steve Martin's character of Harris Telemacher is very distraught during much of "L.A. Story" because of feeling stuck in a relationship and city that he is no longer in love with. Interestingly, Harris receives messages through traffic signs that he uses for advice on how to begin a relationship with Sara, who he instantly has a connection with.

Between 1985 and 2013 Jackie Chan starred in six "Police Story" movies and one spin-off. The first of these films follows the exploits of Chan Ka-Kui (Jackie Chan) who is a police sergeant in Hong Kong. In the film Ka-Kui arrests a drug lord and is then tasked with protecting Selina Fong who is a key witness against the man Ka-Kui arrested. Eventually Ka-Kui is framed for the murder of a police officer but Selina is able to help clear his name.
