Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. According to Trent, You always double down on what number?

Answer: Eleven

Mike and Trent are in Treasure Island Casino, and Mike decides to try his hand at blackjack. Having thrown a hundred dollar chip onto the table, Mike is dealt a five and a six. On seeing this, Trent whispers to Mike "Double down", to which Mike responds "What?". Trent advises Mike "Double down, baby. You gotta double down on an eleven". Mike is reluctant as that would mean he is putting $200 onto the table, but, not wanting to look like an amateur, he complies, confidently declaring "Double down". Mike ends up losing to the dealer, and is sickened at having lost $200 so quickly.
2. What song is being performed live when Mike and his friends go into the Dresden?

Answer: Staying Alive

The disco song "Staying Alive" was written by the Gibb brothers (better known as the Bee Gees) for the 1977 John Travolta movie "Saturday Night Fever". In "Swingers", the version of the song we hear is a jazz fusion cover of the original, performed on synth and upright bass by the Dresden Room resident lounge act Marty and Elayne.
3. Mike and Trent's friend Sue was named after a song performed by who?

Answer: Johnny Cash

The five swingers go to a party at the Chateau Marmont Bungalow and are fixing themselves drinks in the kitchen. Trent, Charles and Sue peel off to work the room, and Rob says to Mike "What's that guy's name? Sue?", to which Mike responds "Sue. His dad was a big Johnny Cash fan". Enlightened, Rob says "Oh, like that song", and Mike confirms Rob's understanding by saying "A Boy Named Sue", adding "I think that's why he's such a bad cat".
4. At the Dresden, Trent and Sue say they are going to wait how long before they call their babies?

Answer: Six days

Whilst at the bar trying to order a drink, Mike gets talking to Nikki, who appears to be a regular. On returning to his friends, Trent and Sue tease Mike about not getting Nikki's phone number, and eventually persuade him to go back and get it. Mike eventually submits, heads back to the bar, and succeeds in getting Nikki's number.

He returns to his friends and engages in conversation about how long he should wait until he calls Nikki. Having suggested that Mike waits two, or probably better, three days until he calls, the scene then ends as Mike asks "How long are you guys gonna wait to call your honeys?" to which Trent and Sue respond in unison "Six days".
5. Where does Lisa, the girl who dresses like Dorothy work?

Answer: MGM Grand

Mike and Trent enjoy a breakfast at the Treasure Island Casino coffee shop (having not enjoyed much success in the casino itself) and then head to the lounge bar where they have said they will meet waitress Christy (who served them in the casino earlier) and a friend. Christy introduces her friend Lisa, who she tells the boys "works at the MGM Grand". Aware that her appearance is slightly unusual (her hair is tied into long pig-tails with powder blue ribbon, and her makeup job is almost theatrical, with bright pink/red lips), Lisa advises "I'm a Dorothy", to which Mike responds "Well, we're not in Kansas anymore", a comment which is met with awkward silence by the other three.
6. Mike meets Lorraine in The Derby nightclub. Where is Lorraine from?

Answer: Michigan

Reminiscent of when he met Nikki earlier in the movie, Mike gets taking to Lorraine at the bar of The Derby nightclub. Conversation seems to flow, and the two appear to have quite a bit in common, in particular they both "left someone behind" to come to Los Angeles to try to make a name for themselves. During their conversation, Lorraine says "So I thought, what the hell, they make movies in L.A., not in Michigan, so I moved here".
7. On Mike's business cards, what does the duck head symbolize?

Answer: Logo from 'You Bet Your Life'

Having enjoyed a swing dance in The Derby nightclub, Mike walks Lorraine to her car. Mike implies that he wants Lorraine's phone number, and Lorraine gets a pen from her car. She asks Mike if he has something to write on, and Mike hands her a business card.

They chat about Mike's desire to be a successful comedian and actor before Lorraine asks if she can have one of his business cards. Mike says "Why, you like the duck with the cigar?", to which Lorraine responds "Yeah. Nice touch. It's the logo from "You Bet Your Life", right?", which clearly impresses Mike, and he says "Good eye.

Not one club owner got it. They all ask me why I got Donald Duck on my card".
8. The commercial for what brand of tires reminds Michelle of Mike?

Answer: Michelin

Excited to have met Lorraine, with whom he appears to have a lot of chemistry, Mike remembers earlier conversation with his friends about not seeming too keen (and his voicemail "disaster" with Nikki), and refrains from calling Lorraine "too soon". As he is relaxing in his flat, the phone rings, and Mike rushes to get it, but forces himself to wait another ring and a half before answering. To his surprise it's Michelle, Mike's ex from back in New York.

It is clear that Michelle is missing Mike, and she says "Do you know how hard it's been not to call you? I pick up the phone every night.

Whenever that commercial comes on". Mike responds "The Michelin commercial", to which Michelle confirms "Yeah, with the baby in the tire".
9. What drink did Mike order at Starbuck's, when he first met Nikki?

Answer: Espresso

As Mike and Nikki are chatting at the bar, Nikki says "I've seen you somewhere...Where have I seen you?". Mike assumes she means she has seen him professionally, at one of his comedy gigs, however, as Mike is explaining how tough it is making it in comedy, Nikki suddenly remembers where she has seen him before and cuts him off saying "I know! Starbucks! I served you an espresso at Starbucks", adding insult to injury by adding "Yes! Remember? You asked me for an application? I introduced you to the manager".
10. What is Mike's last name?

Answer: Peters

The two main characters in the movie are Mike Peters, played by Jon Favreau, who has broken up with his girlfriend in New York and moved to Los Angeles to try and make it as a comedian, and Trent Walker played by Vince Vaughn, a confident, loud-mouthed aspiring actor and Mike's closest friend.

The main supporting characters are the other three swingers - Rob (played by Ron Livingston), Sue (played by Patrick Van Horn), and Charles (played by Alex Désert).
