It is only fitting that the 'Chairman of the Board' of the Rat Pack would be the star of this movie. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop were the Rat Pack. Officially called (by Ole Blue Eyes himself) the Summit,
the Rat Pack hung out together and guest starred in each other's Lounge shows in Las Vegas. In the Late 50s and early 60s, the Rat Pack made Vegas their home and playground. They would do their shows (two or three) each night and tape "Ocean's 11" during the day. It seems they, like Vegas, never slept.

In each casino, the stolen money is to be placed in a bag and put out in a garbage can. Howard's job is to dump those cans with the bags into his truck, and take them to the dump and hide them.
Josh Howard (Sammy Davis Jr.) wanted to be a baseball player after World War II; but because of the color barrier, he ended up being a garbageman.

A power pylon is blown up right after "Auld Lang Syne" is sung. This causes a short-circuit. Twenty seconds later the auxiliary motor comes on and the lights should go on. On that evening, however, the wires are crossed. Instead of the lights going on, the cage doors open. They have ten to fifteen minutes to get the job done before the power is restored.

The other casinos robbed were the Desert Inn and the Riviera. Where are they now? The Sahara, the Jewel of the Desert, is still in Vegas; although, it has been renovated a few times. The Riviera, where Dean Martin stayed and had his piano bar, Dean's Den, is still going strong. Known as Wilbur Clark's Desert Inn, the Desert Inn, with its golf course, was bought by Steve Wynn (creator of the Mirage) and will be the mega-resort Le Reve.

The Sands known as 'A Place in the Sun' was the where Sinatra held court.

It was imploded to make room for the Venetian. The Flamingo, built by Bugsy Siegel, in 1946, is now owned by Hilton (1970). The last of the old buildings, including Bugsy's own suite, was torn down in the mid 1990s.

After the money was taken from each casino's safe, it was put in a small case and dumped into a garbage can. Each can (one from each casino) was picked up by Josh Howard (Sammy Davis Jr.) and brought to the dump and hidden. The next day, they hid the money in the coffin with Anthony Bergdorf(Richard Conte) body.

Cesar Romero also played The Joker on T.V.'s 60's cult favorite "Batman". The casino bosses offered thirty percent of the take if he could get the money back. When Santos realized Jimmy Foster (Peter Lawford) was part of it, he went to Danny Ocean and offered not to say anything to the police. For his silence he asked for fifty percent.

Jimmy Foster, played by Peter Lawford, said he wanted to buy votes and go into politics. He said he might pay off his party and get an appointment as Commissioner of Indian Affairs. Danny Ocean suggested maybe an Ambassadorship, to a small country such as Andorra. Sam Harmon suggested Ambassador to Pomona (a city in Southern California). Foster was already a playboy, getting spending money from his mother. Ocean suggested he wanted to go into world peace.

He wanted to buy out the Miss Universe Pageant and just talk to the girls one at a time. Peter Rheimer, played by "Three's Company"'s Norman Fell, wanted to buy a fifty foot boat, park it in front of his house and maybe give it to his mailman.

Answer: It was cremated in a coffin.

Ocean, Harmon and Foster decided they did not want to give any of the money to Santos. Since the body was to be shipped to San Francisco, they decided to hide the money in the coffin. As lady luck would have it, the mortician convinced the widow to have services in Vegas. The body was then cremated with all the money. Only $10,000 survived and it went to Bergdorf's widow and child.
