To perform this spell you have to tap the animal three times and say 'Fera Verto'. When Ron tries to perform this transfiguration spell with his broken wand, he only manages to turn Scabbers partially into a water goblet; it still has a tail!

It is used by Harry in the third task of the Triwizard Tournament. He uses the spell in order to get Fleur out of the enchanted maze.

Answer: Oppugno

Oppugno actually translates as 'assault' in Latin. The spell causes any conjured object to charge at someone or something. Also, in the film adaptation of 'Half Blood Prince', Hermione casts this spell without the use of a wand.

Answer: Sectumsempra

Sectumsempra was created by Severus Snape (The Half Blood Prince) when he was at Hogwarts. Harry finds it in his 'Advanced Potion Making' textbook. The spell causes almost knife-like wounds on to appear on the person the spell is cast at. This spell can be fatal.

However the 'V' is actually pronounced 'b'. In the book the spell is described as 'almost like a song'. In the movie version of 'Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince' Severus Snape performs this spell on Draco Malfoy, after Harry has cast Sectumsempra on him. The incantation needs to be said three times in a row for it to have maximum effect.

The first time the spell is cast the blood running out of the body slows.
The second time the incantation is used the wounds created by the spell heal.
The third time removes most visible injuries, which prevents scarring of the body.

Harry says this during a D.A. meeting in 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'. Stupefy is a spell which stuns an opponent.

In case you didn't know D.A.D.A. stands for Defense Against The Dark Arts. This spell causes the Bogart to change its form into something the caster finds funny. For example Neville's boggart takes the form of Professor Snape and when Neville casts the spell, Snape's clothes are transformed into those of Neville's grandmother's.

Oculus Reparo (repairs glasses) - used on the Hogwarts Express.

Alohomora (opens doors) - used twice by Hermione, both time when she was trying to get into Fluffy's room (also used unsuccessfully by Ron).

Larcarnum Inflamarae (produces a flame from the end of the wand) - Hermione performs this spell on Snape's cloak during the Quidditch match between Slytherin and Gryffindor, when she and Ron think that Snape is trying to knock Harry off of his broom.

Petrificus Totalus (the Full Body-Bind curse, makes the victim immobile) - used by Hermione on Neville in the Gryffindor Common Room.

Lumos Solem (produces a ray of light, similar to the sun, from the end of the wand) - used on the Devils Snare.

Wingardium Leviosa (levitates an object) - used in Professor Flitwick's classroom to levitate a feather.

Answer: Lumos Maxima

This spell is used to create a light from the end of the user's wand. Lumos Maxima is the more powerful version of the spell Lumos. Harry uses it at No. 4 Privet Drive at night whilst trying to study.

Serpensortia (conjures a snake) - cast by Malfoy on Harry.

Alarte Ascendale (sends an object flying into the air) - cast by Lockhart on the snake (conjured by Draco).

Vipera Evanesca (counter-curse to Serpensortia) - cast by Snape on the snake.
