Arguably, the best film ever made, this portrayal of a man and his ultimate sacrifice for the woman he loves deserves high appraisal and appreciation. The quotations from this film remain iconic. Here is one of the more memorable: "But I've got a job to do, too. Where I'm going, you can't follow. What I've got to do, you can't be any part of. Ilsa, I'm no good at being noble, but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Someday you'll understand that."

Answer: "Ghost"

Sam (Patrick Swayze) returns as a ghost to avenge his own death and more importantly to protect his love from the perpetrator of the crime. Even though Sam begins as an inept ghost, he quickly learns how to wield his powers. He eventually solves the mystery and unites once again with his true love.

Answer: "E.T. the Extraterrestrial"

The socially inept Elliot finds a friend. However, this friend is out of this world. In the end, Elliot must sacrifice his newly found friendship for the freedom and happiness of his extraterrestrial companion. It is a bittersweet departure, but perhaps they will meet again.

Answer: "The Sixth Sense"

Bruce Willis is brilliant as the psychiatrist trying to make up for a past failure. He finds a boy with a unique problem. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) helps solve the mystery with Cole (Osment) and finds peace for both of them. The beginning of the film delineates the ending. "Once upon a time there was this person named Malcolm.

He worked with children. He loved it. He loved it more than anything else. And then one night, he found out that he made a mistake with one of them. He couldn't help that one. And he can't stop thinking about it, he can't forget." Malcolm does help Cole, but there is a sad twist at the end.

Answer: "The Green Mile"

John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan) has been sentenced to death. Prisoners sentenced to death are considered to be walking their last mile on Earth. Hence, the title, "The Green Mile." It turns out though, that John Coffey is innocent. He also has the power to heal and the power to transform evil. In the end, John is resigned to his fate and transfers his powers to his friends.

Answer: "Charly"

A man is selected for an experiment to enhance his intellect. Initially, the experiment works supremely well. Charlie Gordon (Cliff Robertson) experiences dramatic improvement in intelligence and achieves a superior IQ. He surpasses the intellect of the scientist but ultimately regresses to a former state.

The idea was adapted by the "Outer Limits" in an episode called, "The Sixth Finger," starring David McCallum.

Answer: "It's a Wonderful Life"

The trials and travails of an impoverished family provide the poignant background of this classic tale. A man is on the brink of suicide. An angel, eager to earn his wings, comes to help George. The story of how George saves his brother from drowning comes to mind as a good reason to reach for a handkerchief. In addition, this film is a phenomenally popular seasonal favorite for all.

Answer: "Pay It Forward"

Kevin Spacey plays the character of Eugene Simonet. Eugene gives Trevor an assignment in school. The initial expectations for the results of this experimental assignment are not particularly high. However, the idea is adopted and spectacularly successful. Despite Trevor's achievement, he perishes in the end.

Answer: "Forrest Gump"

This film contains sad elements and hilarious moments. Even so, it may render tears from anyone with any degree of sentiment of empathy. Gary Sinise (Dan Taylor) is the war-torn soldier with a great deal of bitterness and heartbreak. Forrest prevails over this pessimistic attitude and strikes a new spirit into Dan.

Despite Forrest's accolades and accomplishments, his one and only true love dies in the end.
