"Round Up the Usual Suspects"

Answer: Casablanca

"Casablanca" (1942) regularly comes in the top ten of lists of all time great films. Set in Africa in the early days of World War 2 it starred Humphry Bogart, Claude Rains and Ingrid Bergman. The line is "You played it for her, now play it for me, play it". Claude Rains, who plays Captain Renault, says this to Rick (Humphrey Bogart), whose past he has always been curious about. Renault and Rick have always had a relationship based on expediency, but by the end of the film they have become genuine friends as well.

26. "You know how to whistle, don't you Steve?". This is one of the most famous Bogart film quotes, but which film is it from?

From Quiz "Round Up the Usual Suspects"

Answer: To Have and Have Not

"To Have and Have Not" (1944) was not only the first time Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart appeared together, it was also her very first film. It is set in Martinique during World War 2, shortly after the fall of France. Bogart agrees to help the French Resistance smuggle some people, and he and Lauren Bacall also have a romance. The scene where she visits him in his room and utters the "you know how to whistle" line has become a cinema classic, and really was the start of the Bogart/Bacall magic. She says it to Bogart as she is leaving the room; in the full quote she is telling him he can be himself with her, and if he wants her all he has to do is whistle. The film is also interesting for a small appearance by Hoagey Carmichael, songwriter of "Stardust", as a piano player who is a friend of Lauren Bacall's character.

27. Who does Bogart shoot in "The Big Sleep"?

From Quiz More Bogart

Answer: Canino

Canino is the sadistic hood at the end of the movie. Always interesting to see Bogart as a private eye - but this is one tough plot to follow.
