All of them have fallen while serving for the United States Army during the Second World War. James Francis Ryan was the last survivor and a member of the famous 101st Airborne Division. A team of Rangers was deployed to find him so he could be sent back to America.

Answer: He reclined between dead corpses and pretended to be dead.

This was also the scene during which he met Vassili Zaitsev for the first time and saw his great sniping skills.
