The 2000 movie "What Women Want" stars Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt. Mel plays advertising agent Nick Marshall who, by a freak electrical accident, suddenly gets the gift of being able to hear what all women are thinking. He uses his gift to steal the ideas of his boss Darcy Maguire (Helen Hunt) in order to take over her job.

The job that he felt should have been given to him. While Nick is using his trickery throughout the movie, he falls in love with Darcy. His conscience gets the better of him at the end of the movie and he ends up telling Darcy that he stole her advertising ideas.

The 1975 movie "Jaws" stars Roy Scheider (Chief Brody), Robert Shaw (Quint), and Richard Dreyfuss (Matt Hooper). The movie depicts the havoc and carnage created from the sudden appearance of a great white shark near the shores of the tourist island of Amity, and the eventual hunting down and killing of the man-eater. Amity is actually the unofficial nick-name of Martha's Vineyard off the coast of Massachusetts.

The 2013 movie "Twelve Years a Slave" stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Solomon Northup, a free New York black man in 1841 who gets kidnapped by slave traders and is sold to a plantation owner in Louisiana. Solomon is held in slavery for twelve years before he manages to get a letter to northern authorities enabling his release and return to his family in New York.

The 1989 movie "Born on the Forth of July" stars Tom Cruise as Ron Kovic, a Viet Nam war veteran who becomes paralyzed when wounded in action. In the beginning, Ron is a Gung-Ho, hard core, "Your country, love it or leave it!" kind of guy. In the later half of the movie, Ron becomes an anti-war and human rights activist after he feels he has been let down and betrayed by his own country.

The 1951 movie "The African Queen" stars Humphrey Bogart (Charlie Allnut), and Katharine Hepburn (Rose Sayer). Charlie is a heavy drinking boat captain of a small tramp steamer named the "African Queen" who gets talked into attacking an enemy German warship by Rose Sayer, a missionary, after she sees her mission village burned and destroyed by the Germans.

The 1990 movie "Total Recall" stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as Douglas Quaid, an average Joe who goes on a virtual vacation to Mars only to discover he is really a double agent named Houser, and the life that he thinks he has is really just a memory implant placed in his mind by a man who basically controls Mars by controlling all the oxygen.

The movie was re-made in 2012 starring Colin Farrell with a few different twists.

The 1991 movie "Sleeping With the Enemy" stars Julia Roberts as Laura Burney, an abused wife of a wealthy man. Laura fakes her own drowning death to escape her husband and leaves town to start a new life. When her husband finds the wedding ring that Laura tried to dispose of in the toilet, he begins to investigate further and tracks her down to where she has moved.

The 1984 movie "Purple Rain" stars the artist known as "Prince" as "The Kid", the leader of a rock band. The Kid has to contend with his abusive and destructive home life, rival bands, the rocky relationship with his band mates, and love in order to make it to the top.

The 1951 movie "The Day The Earth Stood Still" stars Michael Rennie as "Klaatu", a space traveler sent to Earth to warn the inhabitants of the planet of their impending doom if they continue to use atomic weapons unwisely. In 2008 the movie was remade with updated special effects, a slightly different story line about humans destroying their own planet, and stars Keanu Reeves as Klaatu.

The 1959 movie "Some Like it Hot" stars Marilyn Monroe (Sugar Kane Kowalczyk), Tony Curtis (Joe), and Jack Lemmon (Jerry). When musicians Joe and Jerry witness a mob killing, they disguise themselves as women and join an all-girl band in order to hide from the mob.
