Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Marin told me that her mother was a playwright. Who played me?

Answer: Jack Nicholson

Nicholson, born on April 22nd, 1937 in New York City, was cast as Harry Sanborn. Harry mentioned that he believed he was an expert on the younger woman since he had been dating them for over 40 years. In his first scene, he drove in his convertible with a woman named Marin riding shotgun. Marin mentioned to Harry that her mother was rich but then she backed off and said she did not consider her rich. Harry stated that if she lived within a mile of where they were, she would be rich. Marin then informed Harry that her mother was a playwright since she had a hit play. Harry did meet Marin's mother, Erica, and the two of them were seen in the movie bantering around.

In the final scene of the movie, Harry and Erica were a couple after Erica chose him over her other love interest, Julian Mercer. Nicholson starred in the movies "The Shining", "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "About Schmidt".

In 1975, he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the movie, "Chinatown", but lost to Art Carney for "Harry and Tonto".

Other Oscar nominees for Best Actor in a Leading Role that year were Albert Finney for "Murder on the Orient Express", Dustin Hoffman for "Lenny" and Al Pacino for "The Godfather: Part II".
2. I told Harry that my mother was not his type. Who played me?

Answer: Amanda Peet

Peet, a native of New York City, portrayed Marin. Marin was Harry's girlfriend when the movie began and was seen early on in the movie talking with Harry. He told her that he would like to meet her mother. Marin said that, while her mother was great and brilliant, she was not Harry's type and he likely would not enjoy their meeting. Harry responded to Marin that he was a great person as he did not have a specific type of woman. Marin told Harry that her mother was over 30 years of age. Harry then mentioned to Marin that they would have a beach house for two days and wondered what they would do for those two days. Marin asked Harry if he wanted to go for a swim with her but he told her no. Marin informed Harry that one of the rules about staying at the beach house was that smoking was not allowed. Peet guest starred on the TV series "How I Met Your Mother", "Important Things with Demetri Martin" and "Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip".
3. Harry scared me when I first saw him. Who played me?

Answer: Diane Keaton

Keaton, born in 1946 in Los Angeles, California, played Erica Barry. Erica was a playwright and was first seen entering her beach house with her friend, Zoe, when she noticed someone at her refrigerator. Erica was scared since she thought the person was an intruder and the person revealed himself to be Harry. Erica told him to stay where he was since she and her friend had a knife. Harry then asked Erica if she lived there and Erica refused to answer but informed Harry she would call the police. Erica asked Zoe to hand her the phone so she could call the police and that was when Harry informed Erica that he was a friend of her daughter's. Erica told Harry that she did not believe he was a friend of Marin's.

As Erica spoke to the 911 dispatcher, Harry told her he was dating her daughter, Marin, and she invited her to stay with him at the home for the weekend.

When Erica realized Harry was telling her the truth, she told the 911 dispatcher it was a false alarm. Erica eventually dated a doctor named Julian Mercer but she was unable to deny her feelings for Harry.

She eventually broke up with Julian to be with Harry. Keaton was seen in the films "Annie Hall", "The Godfather" and "Marvin's Room". In 2004, she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for "Something's Gotta Give" but lost to Charlize Theron for "Monster". Harry responded that she did indeed read such an article and Zoe recalled the title of it being "The Escape Artist". Erica then mentioned to Zoe that she also read that article.

When Marin mentioned that Harry was once engaged to Diane Sawyer, Zoe piped in and said she loved Diane Sawyer. Zoe asked Harry when he was engaged to Diane Sawyer but Harry simply said it was a long time ago. Dr. Mercer then asked Harry what he was doing when the pain started so Harry responded that he was kissing a beautiful woman. Dr. Mercer then told a nearby nurse to give Harry some aspirin and five milligrams of metoprolol as well as to start a nitro drip on Harry. Dr. Mercer mentioned to Leo that it sounded like an interesting job so Leo stated he had been doing it for six years and there never was a dull moment.
