Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I got stuck in a town in the middle of nowhere and feared I would not make it in time for a very important race in California. Who voiced me?

Answer: Owen Wilson

Wilson, born on November 18th, 1968 in Dallas, Texas voiced the character of Lightning McQueen. McQueen was scheduled to be in a championship car race, out in California, but the truck that transported him there got into an accident and he wound up in Radiator Springs, a town in the middle of nowhere. McQueen tried hard to get out of the town and to California in time, but he was delayed due to being forced to repave the road that he ruined.

While he was in Radiator Springs, an old car racing champion, Doc Hudson, showed him how to turn properly. McQueen made friends with the residents of Radiator Springs and they encouraged him to go to California and win the race. During the race, McQueen almost crossed the finish line, but another competitor got into an accident and could no longer drive. McQueen went back and helped that competitor across the line so McQueen ended up not winning.

However, he still got the Dinoco sponsorship that he really wanted. Wilson had roles in the movies, "Marley and Me", "Behind Enemy Lines" and "Zoolander".
2. I used to be an attorney but spent the rest of my years in Radiator Springs. I had a crush on Lightning McQueen. Who voiced me?

Answer: Bonnie Hunt

Hunt, a native of Chicago, Illinois landed the part of voicing the character of Sally Cerrera. Sally stayed in a cone shaped motel room and Lightning McQueen liked to go there and visit her. In the middle of the film, Sally told McQueen that she used to be a lawyer but no longer was interested in continuing working in that profession.

At one point, she and Lightning McQueen went for a drive and got to a point that provided a nice view of cars driving by Radiator Springs on the freeway. McQueen told Sally those cars were missing a great view and that was when Sally said that the highway was not always there and, then, it was easier for them to find Radiator Springs. Hunt starred in the films, "Beethoven", "Cheaper by the Dozen" and "The Green Mile".
3. My character was once a racing champion but he could not go that fast anymore. Who voiced me?

Answer: Paul Newman

Newman, born in 1925 in Shaker Heights, Ohio got the voice role of Doc Hudson. Hudson used to be a champion of car racing but retired and was looked at, by the other cars in Radiator Springs, as some beat up old timer who could not race anymore if his life depended on it. McQueen had some trouble making turns so Hudson taught him how to do it properly and McQueen improved his turns.

At first, Doc Hudson and Lightning McQueen had a rocky relationship, but then they became great friends. At the final race at the film's end, Hudson spoke to McQueen, through earphones, as he gave him advice on winning the race. Newman had parts in the movies, "The Hustler", "Cool Hand Luke" and "Road to Perdition".

In 1987, he won an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the film, "The Color of Money".

Other Oscar nominees for Best Actor in a Leading Role that year were Dexter Gordon for "'Round Midnight", William Hurt for "Children of a Lesser God", Bob Hoskins for "Mona Lisa" and James Woods for "Salvador". Newman died on September 26th, 2008 at the age of 83.
4. I happened to be a 1959 Fiat 500 ragtop. Who voiced me?

Answer: Tony Shalhoub

Shalhoub voiced the character of Luigi in the movie, "Cars". Luigi was a huge fan of Scuderia Ferrari and loved racing. Luigi owned a tire shop that had a huge stack of tires that resembled the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy. He was assisted by a forklift named Guido whenever he needed to change someone's tires.

When you looked in his shop, he had pictures of various champions of the World Sportscar Championship. Luigi and Guido did not like Lightning McQueen, at first, since he was not a Ferrari.

However, they became friends with him and even went to see him race at the end of the film. Shalhoub starred on the TV series, "Monk." He has also guest starred on the TV series "Frasier" and "Ally McBeal".
5. My forklift helped out Lightning McQueen immensely at the end of the movie. Who voiced me?

Answer: Guido Quaroni

Quaroni provided the voice for Guido. Guido was a forklift who assisted Luigi when Luigi needed to change some tires and, in the film, Luigi changed Lightning McQueen's tires. Guido was not as helpful as other residents of Radiator Springs since he only spoke Italian.

However, there were times when he appeared to understand certain English phrases. Guido always wanted to do a pit stop for a race car and got his wish when he changed McQueen's tires, in the final race, in just four seconds. Quadroni's first acting credit was providing a voice in the movie, "Monsters, Inc".
6. I always wanted to fly in a helicopter and managed to do this! Who voiced me?

Answer: Larry the Cable Guy

Larry the Cable Guy, born on February 17th, 1963 in Pawnee City, Nebraska got to voice Mater. Mater was a tow truck. He had a strong affection for helicopters and told Lightning McQueen he always wanted to ride in one. Midway through the film, Mater took Lightning McQueen out for "cow tipping", in which he and McQueen revved their engines and startled the other cars to tip over and fall down.

The owner of the farm where they did this caught them and chased them out. At the end of the film, someone asked McQueen if there was anything he could do and McQueen asked the guy if he could let his friend, Mater, ride in a helicopter. Mater was last seen in the helicopter, having the time of his life. Larry the Cable Guy portrayed characters in the films, "Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector", "Delta Farce" and "Witless Protection".
7. I had a husband that founded the town of Radiator Springs but he died. Who voiced me?

Answer: Katherine Helmond

Helmond, a native of Galveston, Texas got a chance to voice the character of Lizzie for the Disney/Pixar movie, "Cars". Lizzie's husband, Stanley, founded Radiator Springs, but he passed away so Lizzie was left a widow. Lizzie was a 1923 Ford Model T coupe and owned a shop that sold roadside souvenirs as well as accessories.

In the film, Lizzie was shown as being a senile woman who had a crush on Lightning McQueen. She cheered on McQueen at the final race, which McQueen ultimately lost. Helmond had guest starring roles on the TV shows, "Everybody Loves Raymond", "Providence" and "Coach".
8. I won the race, at the end of the film, after Lightning McQueen allowed me to go on and win. Who voiced me?

Answer: Michael Keaton

Keaton, born in 1951 in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania landed the voice over for Chick Hicks. Hicks was seen as the antagonist, since he was a tough competitor for the final race that would determine who would get the Piston Cup. In most races, Hicks tended to ram cars into the side and caused them to wreck.

He hated Lightning McQueen and tried to do this to him in the final race, but he was unsuccessful. The other competitor was in ruins and McQueen, instead of crossing the finish line, went back and helped him across, thus allowing Chick Hicks to win.

The winner of the Piston Cup would be sponsored by Dinoco but Dinoco told Hicks they would not sponsor him. Hicks had no time to celebrate his win since he was booed and fled with his trophy. Keaton starred in the movies, "Batman", "Multiplicity" and "Pacific Heights".
9. The green paint job on my car showed that I was a veteran of the armed forces. Who voiced me?

Answer: Paul Dooley

Dooley, born on February 22nd, 1928 in Parkersburg, West Virginia got to voice Sarge. Sarge was a green car and it was hinted that he served in World War II. 10. I owned a paint and body art shop and got to paint Lightning McQueen. Who voiced me?

Answer: Cheech Marin

Marin, a native of Los Angeles, voiced the character of Ramone. Ramone loved to paint cars and even got to give Lightning McQueen a nice little shine when he painted his car to near perfection. His license plate was a reference to his specific catch phrase of "low and slow" as it read, "L0WNSL0".

He was the husband of Flo, who owned a restaurant right next to his paint shop. Ramone tended to have a yellow and orange flame painted on his car, and often changed his self paint jobs to ensure he could still paint properly, since he did not have many customers.

When more people started to come to Radiator Springs, his business became very popular and he made lots of money. Marin acted in the films, "Christmas with the Kranks", "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" and "Spy Kids".
