Answer: Tow Mater

Mater used to be a baby blue color, but over time his finish has become a rusty patina. He has a business in Radiator Springs called "Tow Mater Towing and Salvage", and is really the first to befriend Lightning McQueen when he finds himself in Radiator Springs. Claiming to be the "world's best backwards driver", Mater is the one who took Lightning "tractor-tippin" and also taught him how to drive backwards without crashing.

This is significant to the story, as it was a move that Lightning used during the Piston Cup tiebreaker race. Mater was also featured in "Cars 2" (2011), "Cars 3" (2017) and "Cars Toons" (2008).

Answer: Sally

Sally Carrerais is a relative newcomer to Radiator Springs, and the most modern car in town. Originally a lawyer in California, Sally told Lightning that one day she kept on driving and broke down in Radiator Springs. Everyone took her in, and she decided to stay. Sally is the owner of the Cozy Cone Motel and uses cones in the motel's decor - even the clocks are shaped as cones! She appears during Lightning's trial in traffic court and convinces Doc to have him repair Main Street in exchange for the damage he did to the road when he came to town; her goal is to restore Radiator Springs to its former glory. Together she and Lightning reopen the abandoned motel, the Wheel Well, as a bed and breakfast. Sally also appeared in "Cars 2" (2011) and "Mater and the Ghostlight" (2006).

Answer: Doc

Doc is a three-time winner of the Piston Cup. and the medical doctor and town judge in Radiator Springs. After suffering a devastating crash during the final lap of his last Piston Cup, Doc realized that he was viewed as old-fashioned and obsolete in the racing world.

He left racing, studied medicine, and disappeared, moving to Radiator Springs, where he runs Doc's Clinic. The appearance of Lightning McQueen brings Doc's past to back to him, especially when Lightning notices that Doc still knows something about racing and discovers his past racing victories. Doc becomes Lightning's crew chief for the tiebreaker race, and finally comes to terms with his past.

A racing museum is opened in Radiator Springs, which features Doc's accomplishments; at the beginning of "Cars 2" (2011) it was indicated that Doc died of "engine cancer".

Answer: Sheriff

Sheriff is the first resident of Radiator Springs to meet Lightning when he came to town, lost and "in a heap of trouble" for damaging the road. Sheriff doesn't like Lightning much at first, and doesn't trust him at all; by the time Lightning is ready to go back to California for the tiebreaker Piston Cup race, however, Sheriff offers him a police escort and also serves in his pit crew.

Sheriff appeared in "Cars 2" (2011).

Answer: Luigi

Luigi is the owner of Casa Della Tires in Radiator Springs. Known for its "Leaning Tower of Tires", Casa Della Tires displays photos of Ferraris in different World Sportscar Championships. Luigi is assisted by Guido, who is a 1950's Isetta forklift. Like many of the residents of Radiator Springs, neither Luigi nor Guido like Lightning McQueen very much.

They do, however, fit him with a new set of whitewall tires, and serve as part of his pit crew during the tiebreaker Piston Cup race, setting a record of 4 seconds for changing all of Lightning's tires. Both characters appeared in "Cars 2" (2011).

Answer: Ramone

Ramone owns Ramone's House of Body Art, and not only paints himself but also the other cars in Radiator Springs. Although he is generally shown as being purple with yellow and orange flames, every morning Ramone appears to have somehow changed his look.

This, he said, is to keep his skills honed due to the lack of other customers for his business in Radiator Springs. Of course, he is delighted when Lightning repairs the road so that he could go "low and slow". And - he has plenty of customers after Lightning puts Radiator Springs back on the map! Ramone also made an appearance in "Cars 2" (2011).

Answer: Flo

Flo is married to Ramone and owns the business, Flo's V-8 Café, which is located next to his. A deleted scene from "Cars" showed that she fell in love with Ramone after he refused to paint her, saying "No baby, you too good for me to paint." It is believed that her body style was adapted from both the 1951 Buick XP-300 and the 1956/57 Chrysler Dart. Flo also appeared in "Cars 2" (2011).

Answer: Fillmore

Fillmore has stickers and peace signs on his Volkswagen microbus body, uses "organic fuel", and owns Fillmore's Organic Fuel Shop. He enjoys listening to the "The Star-Spangled Banner" every morning, but plays the Jimi Hendrix version; his name refers to Fillmore East, a concert venue in the '60s and '70s that saw performances by Jimi Hendricks, as well as "The Greatful Dead". Fillmore has also been seen in many Cars productions, including "Cars Mater-National Championship", a video game that was released in 2007, and "Cars 2" (2011).

Answer: Sarge

Sarge's business, Sarge's Surplus Hut, is next to Fillmore's shop; he likes to play "Reveille" every morning. During the tiebreaker Piston Cup race, he is seen fueling Lightning up during the race; at the end of the movie, he appears to be running a boot camp for SUVs to learn how to drive off road in harsh terrain. Sarge also appeared in "Cars 2" (2011).

Answer: Lizzie

Who could ever forget sweet, elderly Lizzie, a 1923 Ford Model T Coupe? She is the wife of the founder of Radiator Springs, Stanley, a Stanley Steamer, and runs a souvenir shop. Portrayed as being a bit forgetful, Lizzie is very motherly to all of the town residents and is well-respected.

The story of Lizzie and Stanley was told in "Cars Toons: Mater's Tall Tales" in "Time Travel Mater" (2012).
