PLEASE NOTE BEFORE YOU COMPLAIN! The question says PROJECT MAYHEM, not Fight Club. I know full well that the third rule of fight club is "if someone yells stop, taps out, goes limp, that fight is over." So please don't send me a correction on this one. I know I brought this on myself by having quite a tricky question as the first one, but the hardcore Fight Club fans really should pick up on it. Remember, always read the question carefully!

We find out that the first rule of project mayhem is "you do not ask questions", and the second rule is "you do not ask questions", but the other rules (if there are any) are never revealed.

Answer: Meryl Streep

In the official script it was originally meant to be Joni Mitchell's skeleton. I would guess they changed it because Rachel Singer, the actress who plays Chloe, bore greater resemblance to Meryl Streep than Joni Mitchell.

This is revealed in the DVD commentary. In the scene where the narrator describes the house as a 'clockwork of space monkeys.' In the background we can see two of them, one slapping the other in the face. "Fight Club" director David Fincher insisted on there being loads of takes of this scene and eventually the guy being slapped predictably got fed-up and just left.

Answer: The first space monkey

The first space monkey is admitted after standing for three days without food, shelter or encouragement. During this time Tyler and Jack try to persuade him to leave by, amongst other things, telling him they'll call the police and hitting him with the broom. Once he is admitted it is this space monkey who assumes the role of persuading the other applicants to leave.

Answer: Richard Chesler

We see this only briefly in the scene where Edward Norton beats himself up in Chesler's office. During the line 'In and behind everything this man took for granted something horrible was growing', we see a shot of his name plate on the desk. Richard Chesler is played by Zach Grenier and interestingly, his name is spelt 'Chestler' in the official script. I used the spelling shown in the film, however, because in the film a lot of things were changed from the script. 'Chesler' is also how it appears in the credits.

There are a couple of really sick jokes in this scene such as: "The teenager's braces are wrapped around the backseat ashtray. Might make a good anti-smoking ad."

The audio commentary on the DVD points this out when the narrator (Jack) is watching T.V. in his hotel room. When he looks at the screen and all the waiters shout "welcome" Brad Pitt is the one on the very right hand side as we see it. This was just a little hidden feature for the die-hard fans.

Tyler tells him, "Heavens no don't pull the green one. Pull any one but the green one." He does pull it and it works until Tyler kicks him in the face and plugs it back in again.

Tyler refers to Marla in this way and tells Jack to stay away from her. Helena Bonham Carter, who plays Marla, had to put on an American accent for this film and personally (from a British perspective) I thought it was pretty good. Normally she speaks with a rather posh standard English accent.

His name is never used in the film but obviously the script writers had to name him something. In the official script he is cast as 'Angel Face' and this is also the name that appears in the credits.
