Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What part did Adam West play in the 1986 zombie film "Zombie Nightmare"?

Answer: Tom

Tony (Jon Mikl Thor) disrupted an attempted robbery and was run over by a gang of teenagers (Bob, Amy, Jim, Peter, and Susie). His mother, Louise, contacted a voodoo priestess, Molly, who resurrected Tony as a zombie. Tony killed Peter and Susie at the gym. Police investigated and told Capt. Tom Churchman (Adam West) that Molly might have had something to do with it. Churchman called Molly a "batty voodoo palm reader" and nothing to worry about.

As the murders continued, Capt. Churchman knew more about what was happening than he told anyone.
2. In the original "Night of the Living Dead" where did Johnny drive his sister?

Answer: To the graveyard

Johnny complained about making the long drive to the cemetery for his sister to visit their father's grave. Johnny said he couldn't remember what the old man looked like. His sister, Barbra, prayed at the grave, and Johnny said she did enough praying at church. Barbra replied, "I haven't seen you at church lately." Eventually, a zombie chased Barbra, so she coasted the car part of the way to the farm house.

She couldn't drive the car, because Johnny had the keys, and he had been knocked out at the cemetery.
3. What was protected by the zombies in the movie "Zombies of Mora Tau" (1957)?

Answer: Diamonds

In the movie "Zombies of Mora Tau" (1957) a treasure chest of diamonds was in a sunken vessel off the coast of Africa. The crew had drowned, but they became zombies who killed anyone trying to get the diamonds. When treasure hunters arrived, they were shown the graves of the people who tried to get the diamonds in the past. Two interesting things about this movie: the zombies were called the walking dead, and the opening credits included a printed message about "the twilight zone" between life and death.
4. In which of these movies did a shark attack a zombie, and vice versa?

Answer: Zombi 2

Susan swam underwater and saw a shark and an underwater zombie attack each other. This Italian follow-up to "Dawn of the Dead" (1978) featured zombie attacks in New York City and a Caribbean Island after scientists created a virus which got loose. The movie was released various times as "Zombie Flesh Eaters", "Island of the Living Dead", "Zombie: The Dead Walk Among Us", "Nightmare Island", "Zombies 2", and "Woodoo".
5. How did the zombies get inside the city in "Land of the Dead"?

Answer: They walked underwater.

This was another George Romero zombie movie. This movie featured people living in a walled city, with one side protected by a body of water instead of a wall. When they went outside the city on a supply run, the people distracted the zombies by shooting fireworks.

However, one zombie was more intelligent and wasn't fooled by fireworks anymore. He also discovered that he could walk underwater and get to the city. The other zombies followed him and hundreds of zombies attacked the people in the city.
6. What was advertised in 1964 as the first monster musical?

Answer: The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies

Director Ray Dennis Steckler played a man who went to the carnival and went back stage to meet a stripper, but instead he met her sister, a fortune teller who was jealous. He didn't know that the carnival freaks were previous victims which the fortune teller had turned into zombies. Soon he was another victim, who was hypnotized to murder. Songs were included in some of the scenes as an audience watched people dance on stage.
7. What part did Arnold Schwarzenegger play in the movie "Maggie"?

Answer: Maggie's father

In the movie "Maggie", Arnold Schwarzenegger played the father of Maggie, who was bitten by a zombie. They knew that she would eventually turn into a zombie herself, and Maggie thought about committing suicide. She told her father to kill her, but he didn't know what to do about it.
8. What odd thing did Brenda do in "Return of the Living Dead Part II" (1988)?

Answer: She let her boyfriend eat her brain.

Joey (Thom Mathews) was with his friend in the cemetery robbing graves when a chemical escaped a military canister. The chemical resurrected dead people in the cemetery. The chemical got on Joey, and he eventually became a talking zombie, who told his girlfriend, Brenda (Suzanne Snyder), that he would really love to eat her brain.

As ridiculous as this sounds, eventually, Brenda let her boyfriend eat her brain.
9. In which movie was Jud Crandall (Fred Gwynne) attacked by a zombie boy?

Answer: Pet Sematary

Jud Crandall (Fred Gwynne) told his new neighbor there was a nearby area of land which had been an old American Indian burial ground where people had been resurrected, but now the ground had become sour. Children still used it as a pet cemetery, but the resurrected animals were not friendly.

When the neighbor's son, Gage Creed, was run over by a truck, he was buried in the magic ground, and came back to life as a murderous zombie. He attacked Jud and his mother (Denise Crosby).
10. What brought out the zombies in "Sugar Hill"?

Answer: Voodoo

Zombies have been created in different ways in various films. In "Sugar Hill" (1974) they were brought out with old fashioned voodoo. A woman named Sugar Hill had a boyfriend who was killed by gangsters. She went to a voodoo priestess (Zara Cully, Mother Jefferson of "The Jeffersons") to use zombies to kill the gangsters for revenge.
