Answer: Shaun of the Dead

Pegg played the titular Shaun, a 29-year-old electronics salesman who had a best friend and a girlfriend who didn't quite see eye to eye.

Shaun and Liz ended up breaking up, and the next day a zombie apocalypse broke out. The movie follows Shaun and his friends as they learn to deal with the zombies, with a surprise twist at the end. Not everyone made it out alive either.

Directed by George A Romero, the movie is considered one of the best zombie flicks of all time.

The movie, set mostly on a farm in rural Pennsylvania, followed seven people trapped in the house on the property. The movie also had a family of three stuck in the basement and another young couple who show up at the house to avoid attack from the zombies.

The seven people trapped in the house didn't all get along, but they were forced to work together as they tried to save themselves from the zombies.
3. Released in 2009, starred Woody Harrelson and Emma Stone

Answer: Zombieland

Characters in this movie were known only by the city they were from. The zombie outbreak in this movie was caused by a mutated stream of Mad Cow Disease, the movie picked up 2 months after the outbreak.

The movie followed four main characters as they made their way to a California theme park, an area that was allegedly free of zombies.
4. Released in 1985, starred Lori Cardille and Terry Alexander

Answer: Day of the Dead

This was another zombie film from director George A. Romero, who had another film already featured in this quiz. The movie followed A group of soldiers and scientists who were trapped in a bunker as the world above them was overwhelmed by zombies.

While in the bunker, the scientists and soldiers didn't get along, and had different ideas on how to best save themselves from the zombies who kept attempting to break in.
5. Released in 2013, starred Brad Pitt

Answer: World War Z

Brad Pitt played Gerry Lane, a United Nations investigator who travelled the globe to investigate and fight a zombie outbreak.

The zombies in this movie turned their victims into more zombies quickly, once bitten they only survived another 12 seconds before turning. By the end of the movie, a vaccine was made to allow humans to walk amongst the zombies, but no cure had been found for the outbreak itself.
6. Released in 2007, starred Rose McGowan and Freddy Rodriguez

Answer: Planet Terror

This movie was half of the "Grindhouse" double feature released by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. This half was Rodriguez's portion. The other half was called "Death Proof".

In the movie a biochemical agent known as DC2, or Project Terror got released into the air. The chemical turned most of a small town into sickos, which were this movie's name for zombies. The rest of the movie dealt with the main characters attempting to survive attacks from the sickos, while they also looked to find their way to safety.

Set during George W. Bush's fourth term as the U.S, President, the country was fighting wars on several fronts.

There were more wars than soldiers it seemed, so Bush green-lit a project to reanimate dead soldiers which were to be sent back into battle.

One marine, who was ordered to kill the zombified squads was bitten before he killed them all. He died outside of a small strip club, and later reawakened as a zombie and went into the strip club.

Answer: Re-Animator

The movie was based on a book, "Herbert West-Reanimator", that was written by H.P. Lovecraft.

The movie opened with Herbert West performing experiments on his dead professor, Dr. Hans Gruber. He managed to bring the man back to life, but with serious side effects as he gave too high a dosage to the man. He later killed the professor and started over with his experiments.

The movie spawned several sequels.
9. Released in 1992, starred Timothy Balme and Elizabeth Moody

Answer: Dead Alive

The movie was retitled for the U.S. release it was originally known as "Braindead".

The movie was directed by Peter Jackson. It followed Lionel Cosgrove as he dealt with the loss, and later re-animation of his mother. His mother had gotten bit by a Sumatran rat-monkey and died from the injury. When she came back to life, she fed on cats and dogs for sustenance.
10. Released in 2002, starred Cillian Murphy and Naomie Harris

Answer: 28 Days Later

The movie was directed by Danny Boyle and spawned a sequel called "28 Weeks Later".

Credited with restarting the zombie movie in the early 2000s this was one of the first commercially and critically successful movies in the genre in decades.

The plot followed a bicycle courier as he awoke from a coma. Most of the rest of the city he was in had fallen ill from some type of virus. The virus spread when animal activists released an infected chimpanzee back into the wild. Several other cities had outbreaks of the virus as well, suggesting a worldwide spread, but the other cities weren't shown in the movie, only talked about.
