Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the first U.S. radio single from this album?

Answer: Love Won't Leave You

"Love Won't Leave You" was the first single released from the "Stand" CD, in the United States. "Orphans of God" followed later. Neither "The Other Side" nor "I Survive" was ever released to radio.
2. The group members don't usually write many of the songs they record. However, two members of Avalon helped co-write on the song "The Other Side". Which members were they?

Answer: Jody McBrayer and Melissa Greene

Jody and Melissa both sang lead vocals, and they co-wrote for the song, along with Barry Week, Ian Eskelin and Tony Wood. You might also remember Ian Eskelen from the group All Star United.
3. Both Greg and Janna Long individually sing the lead vocal on two songs each. Which of the following is NOT a song in which Greg or his wife has the full solo?

Answer: Jesus

Greg sings the lead on "Love Won't Leave You" and "Slowly". Janna sings lead on "Orphans of God" and "When The Time Comes". Therefore, the only option left is "Jesus," on which Jody McBrayer has the lead vocal.
4. "Stand" was whose first album as a member of Avalon?

Answer: no one

Actually, there were no new members in Avalon, either at the time of recording or release of this album. Melissa's first recording with Avalon was a set of three songs for the "Very Best of" collection. Greg's first album with the group was "The Creed," which preceded this one.
5. When Avalon sang on the Gospel Music Channel's "Front Row Live" concert series, there was one song which Janna said was probably her favorite on this CD. What was it?

Answer: Orphans of God

This song meant a lot to her as a mother. This is one of the song she sings the lead on.
6. The album's title is derived from the title of what classic Christian song covered on the album?

Answer: We Will Stand

Avalon covered Russ Taff's classic song, "We Will Stand" on this album. Russ Taff himself sings as a guest vocalist on this cover track, from which the entire album's title, "Stand," is taken. Incidentally, it is track 6, fitting for this question. You could associate the song "Stand" with a song by Susan Ashton. "If I Stand" was a song by Rich Mullens, and Avalon never covered anything from him. "Where I Stand" was by Twila Paris, and although it was the name of Avalon's first tour with her, they never covered the song.
7. Which word is missing from this lyric in the song "When The Time Comes"? "For every soul there is a ___, when we see there's more to life than we believed"

Answer: dawning

This line is in the second verse. The word "midnight" is in the first verse: "For every soul there is a midnight, when it's silent in the room but loud inside". Although the other two choices would have made sense on their own to fit the first part of the lyric ("For every soul there is a savior" and "For every soul there is a hope"), they wouldn't make sense when put into the whole line. Besides, they are not part of the song anyway.
8. Which line is NOT from any song on "Stand"?

Answer: "Fill me with Your peace and grace..."

This line comes from the title track of another Avalon album, "The Creed". The other three lines are all from different songs on "Stand".
9. Who sings the lead vocal on the song "Where Joy And Sorrow Meet"?

Answer: Melissa Greene

This is a beautiful closing song on which Melissa sings lead vocals.
10. Avalon did a tour called the "We Will Stand" tour. However, they were not promoting this album. Which album were they promoting on the "We Will Stand" tour?

Answer: Another Time, Another Place: Timeless Christian Classics

The "We Will Stand" tour was actually Avalon's first tour in three and a half years since "The Creed" tour in 2004. Avalon released "Another Time, Another Place: Timeless Christian Classics" in 2008, on the same day as all the other artists on the tour. They all re-recorded the cover of "We Will Stand" together on a promotional CD. The year "Stand" was released, Avalon sang at Women of Faith conferences. "Faith: A Hymns Collection" was released after "Stand," and they sang hymns they had recorded on this project at the conferences, as well. The "Oxygen" tour was a few years before.
