Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Oh, my daddy said shoot"

Answer: Daddy Lessons

A country-inspired track found halfway through the album, "Daddy Lessons" uses a snippet of The Dixie Chicks' "Long Time Gone" to form its backbone. The song itself is about, go figure, the lessons learned from a father imparting wisdom to his daughter about their family.
Beyoncé later performed the song live with the Dixie Chicks during the Country Music Awards in 2016. The Dixie Chicks themselves had been performing a cover of it on their tour for the better part of a year at that point. The original track peaked at number forty-one on the Billboard Hot 100.
2. "He better call Becky with the good hair"

Answer: Sorry

"Sorry", one of the main singles released from "Lemonade", was said to be about Beyoncé's husband, Jay-Z, cheating on her with another woman. The song became undeniably popular due to its catchy lyrics and lines like the song-ending "he better call Becky with the good hair", which sparked a storm of gossip after the release of the album.

After release, the song went platinum in the U.S. and reached number eleven on the Billboard Hot 100-- the second-highest of all the songs released on "Lemonade".
3. "They don't love you like I love you"

Answer: Hold Up

Inspired by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' single "Maps", "Hold Up" is the second song on the album. The song became a Grammy winner in 2016, receiving the statuette for Best Pop Solo Performance. It also ended up being credited to the most writers of any song on the disc-- fifteen-- including Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig and Diplo.

In the "Lemonade" accompaniment video, "Hold Up" features Bey smashing car windows and surveillance cameras with a baseball bat. The song peaked at number thirteen on the Billboard Hot 100 as the album's third single.
4. "I'm so reckless when I rock my Givenchy dress (stylin')"

Answer: Formation

The lead single from "Lemonade" and the last track on the album, Beyoncé debuted the song during a guest appearance in Coldplay's Super Bowl Halftime show in 2015, performing it head to head against Bruno Mars in an onstage showdown backed by dancers in Black Panther inspired outfits. Nominated for three Grammy Awards, Bey won one for the music video, part of the "Lemonade" accompaniment video.

The single peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100.
5. "You can taste the dishonesty, it's all over your breath"

Answer: Pray You Catch Me

The first song on the album, "Pray You Catch Me" sets the tone for the disc, immediately reflecting Beyoncé's sorrow in a tale of being on the receiving end of infidelity. Very much down-tempo, the song leads into what seems to be the pseudo-stages of grief with "Hold Up" being a state of reasoning and denial and the song after, "Don't Hurt Yourself", being filled with snarky anger. "Pray You Catch Me" charted after "Lemonade's" release, topping off at number thirty-one on the Billboard Hot 100.
6. "When every promise don't work out that way"

Answer: Sandcastles

One of the more emotional songs on the album, "Sandcastles" was never performed live by Beyoncé until the 2017 Grammy Awards when, several months into her pregnancy, she performed it and "Love Drought", both more downbeat singles, during a dreamlike sequence.

The ballad ended up appearing at number forty-three on the Billboard Hot 100 solely due to the album's unorthodox surprise release.
7. "We just got to let it be, let it be, let it be"

Answer: Don't Hurt Yourself

Performed with Jack White, "Don't Hurt Yourself" is a fierce song speaking out against Beyoncé's cheater. A slight departure from the rest of the songs on "Lemonade", "Don't Hurt Yourself" was subsequently nominated for Best Rock Performance at the Grammy Awards despite the album being regarded as R&B (it lost to David Bowie's "Blackstar").

It reached number twenty-eight on the Billboard Hot 100 despite never releasing as an official single. Jack White's previous duet, "Another Way to Die", made for the James Bond film "Quantum of Solace", reached nowhere near that position on the chart.
8. "You and me could move a mountain"

Answer: Love Drought

Another song typically not performed in Beyoncé's live shows, "Love Drought" became a popular promotional single after Bey's Grammy performance in 2017 (after which it and "Sandcastles" both showed up in truncated videos online, cut from her "Lemonade" video.) The song was originally written by recording artist Ingrid Burley who, subsequently, supported Beyoncé on her Formation World Tour, at least in the European leg.

The song went to number forty-seven on the Billboard Hot 100.
9. "She murdered everybody and I was her witness"

Answer: 6 Inch

The '6 Inch' of the song refers to the size of Bey's heels; the song itself is about a woman heading to the club. Bolstered by the popularity of The Weeknd at the release of "Lemonade", "6 Inch" saw a higher chart position in the album's week of release (it ended up at number eighteen on the Billboard Hot 100).

The song also featured guest vocals from hip hop artist Belly. Originally, it was meant to appear on her fifth album, the self-titled "Beyoncé".
10. "So many people that I know, they're just tryna touch ya"

Answer: All Night

The penultimate song on the "Lemonade" album, "All Night" brings things back to near-normal as "Beyoncé" tries to bring love back into her relationship. The final single to be released, "All Night" finished charting at number thirty-eight on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song begins with an excerpt from a speech performed by Jay-Z's grandmother, Hattie White, on her ninetieth birthday party in which she claimed "I had my ups and downs, but I always find the inner strength to pull myself up. I was served lemons, but I made lemonade." It's from this quote that the album title was derived.
