Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which song are these lyrics from? "You treat me just like another stranger"

Answer: Ignorance

"You treat me just like another stranger.
Well it's nice to meet you sir, I guess I'll go, I best be on my way out.
Ignorance is your new best friend, ignorance is your new best friend."

"Ignorance" was the first song written for the album "Brand New Eyes." It was also the first song released as both a single and an online track on the official Paramore website.
2. These lyrics are from what song? "You've got to reach a little more"

Answer: Careful

"You can't be too careful anymore,
When all that is waiting for you
Won't come any closer,
You've got to reach a little more."

"Careful," only reached 78 in the US Billboard charts. This song has caused friction in the band, since the line "the truth never set me free" directly opposes the Bible, and the members are all Christian.
3. Which song has these lyrics? "But I'll be back, don't try and follow me."

Answer: Misguided Ghosts

"I am going away for a while
But I'll be back, don't try and follow me
'Cause I'll return as soon as possible"

Most songs by Paramore are written by Hayley Williams and Josh Farro, but Taylor York helped write this song. This song is completely acoustic, and only uses vocals and finger-picked guitars.
4. What song are these lyrics from? "Where's your gavel, your jury? What's my offense this time?"

Answer: Ignorance

"Where's your gavel, your jury? What's my offense this time?
You're not a judge, but if you're going to judge me,
Sentence me to another life."

The music video for "Ignorance" is set mainly inside a small room or closet with a single lightbulb hanging from the ceiling. The cramped conditions stand for tension, physically and figuratively. The lightbulb is the only positive in the room, and it ends with Hayley being wrapped in it.
5. Which song are these lyrics from? "Next time you point your finger, I'll point you to the mirror."

Answer: Playing God

"You don't have to believe me, but the way I, way I see it.
Next time you point your finger, I might have to bend it back
Or break it, break it off.
Next time you point your finger, I'll point you to the mirror."

When you "play God," you act as though you are superior to others. If you break the finger off, the person playing God wouldn't be able to point the finger, and wouldn't be able to play God anymore.
6. This line is in which song? "In the freefall I will realize I'm better off when I hit the bottom."

Answer: Turn it Off

"And the worst part is, before it gets any better, we're heading for a cliff.
And in the freefall I will realize I'm better off when I hit the bottom."

There are many possibilities for what "turn it off" could actually mean: turning off feelings, turning off life, turning off your past, and many others. Turning off life is most likely in this case, because there are just so many troubles in the song, like scraping knees while praying or trying to find perfection in pride.
7. What song are these lyrics from? "It was a trick and the clock struck twelve."

Answer: Brick by Boring Brick

"It was a trick, and the clock struck twelve. Well make sure
To build your home brick by boring brick, or the wolf's gonna blow it down.
Keep your feet on the ground, when your head's in the clouds."

The music video for "Brick by Boring Brick" was Paramore's first video to actually have a story behind it and include a lot of acting. It stands for Hayley letting go of her childhood, and taking a crucial step towards growing up, physically and emotionally.
8. These lyrics are in which song? "You barely get by, the rest of us are trying."

Answer: Feeling Sorry

"I feel no sympathy, you live inside a cave.
You barely get by, the rest of us are trying.
There's no need to apologize, I've got no time for feeling sorry."

Hayley Williams says, in response to this song, that it's frustrating seeing people with potential just because things seem out of reach. She says that working hard is definitely a good thing, and it's taken a lot of that for her and the band to reach that point.
9. Which song has these lyrics? "No one is as lucky as us."

Answer: Where the Lines Overlap

"No one is as lucky as us. We're not at the end but oh, we already won.
No one is as lucky as us, is as lucky as us."

In the booklet that contains the lyrics in the "Brand New Eyes" CD case, the picture shows a map with push pins in it, where lines are overlapping. This song is also very open to interpretation by the listener, the lines and pictures could stand for almost anything you wanted them to.
10. What song are these lyrics from? "It's not a dream anymore."

Answer: Looking Up

"Honestly, can you believe we cross the world while it's asleep.
I'll never trade it in 'cause I've always wanted this.
And it's not a dream anymore. No, it's not a dream anymore.
It's worth fighting for."

The lyrics to the whole song suggest that things are really looking up, but they're still going forward. There were many troubles in the past, and they are finally pushing through as a band.
