Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which song includes the following lyrics? "With my blackjack and jacket and hair slicked sweet, silver star studs on my duds like a Harley in heat."

Answer: It's Hard to Be a Saint In the City

From "Greetings From Asbury Park NJ." Arguably this LP has the most words per bar of music of any album I've heard.
2. What song contains these lyrics? "Well I unsnapped his skull cap, and between his ears I saw a gap, and figured he'd be alright."

Answer: Blinded By the Light

Manfred Mann had a hit when he covered this song. Not nearly as good as the original. (In my humble opinion.)
3. Which Springsteen classic has the following lryics? "Well, Wild Billy was a crazy cat, and he shook some dust out of his coon skin cap."

Answer: Spirit In the Night

Bruce always did a great job when he did this song live, usually going out into the crowd.
4. What Bruce song contains the following lyrics? "At night sometime it seemed, you could hear the whole damn city crying."

Answer: Backstreets

Bruce sings about Terry in this song. It's one of many girls he sang about, such as Wendy, Rosalita, and Sandy, to name a few.
5. Which song has the following lyrics? "And the wizards play down on pinball way, on the boardwalk way past dark."

Answer: Sandy (Fourth of July, Asbury Park)

This song paints an amazing picture of the New Jersey boardwalk in the 1970's. From "The Wild, the Innocent", and "The E Street Shuffle".
6. Another Bruce classic, which song contains these lyrics? "They'll meet 'neath that giant Exxon sign, that brings this fair city light."

Answer: Jungleland

Bruce was a master of changing his musical style. This LP, "Born to Run", was a complete change from" The E Steet Shuffle", as E Street was from "Greetings".
7. Which song has these lyrics? "And them tin cans are explodin' out in the ninety-degree heat."

Answer: Kitty's Back

This song shows Springsteen's great range of styles. It could almost be classified as jazz.
8. What Bruce song has these lyrics? "The Daily News asks her for the dope. She says, Man, the dope's that there's still hope."

Answer: Does This Bus Stop At 82nd Street?

From "Greetings From Asbury Park NJ".
9. This song has the classic wall of sound thing going on. Where do these lyrics come from? "The amusment park rises bold and stark, kids are huddled on the beach in the mist."

Answer: Born to Run.

Bruce took about nine months to record this song.
10. And finally, what song contains these lyrics? "I swear I found the key to the universe, in the engine of an old parked car."

Answer: Growin Up

As you can probably tell by now Bruce's first three lp's are my favorites. Hope you had fun. Now go listen to some early Bruce!
