Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which song starts with, "Is there anyone that fails? Is there anyone who falls? Am I the only one in church today feeling so small?"?

Answer: Stained Glass Masquerade

This song is centered around people who go to church, and act like everything is fine, when it is not. It talks about not letting people get close, so we can keep up an act. This song can be found on the "Lifesong" album, which released in 2005.
2. Which song talks about a girl who is "another two years older, and she's three more steps behind," and who "is yearning for shelter and affection that she never found at home."?

Answer: Does Anybody Hear Her

This song follows a girl who is looking for love in all the wrong places, and how as Christians, we need to be more accepting. "Does Anybody Hear Her" is also on the "Lifesong" album.
"One Step Away" and "Slow Fade" are also by Casting Crowns, but "On Your Knees" is actually from Newsboys.
3. Which song references Jesus and the woman who committed adultery, saying, "...the one who's writing in the sand. Make the righteous turn away, and the stones fall from their hands."?

Answer: Jesus, Friends of Sinners

At the time this song was released, it was one of their most direct songs, talking about being "a plank eyed saint with dirty hands and a heart divided." It is a reminder not to judge others, Jesus ate with sinners.
During the second verse, this song references John 8:5-11.
4. Which song is a reminder to trust God, its lyrics saying, "And when you're tired of fighting, chained by your control, there's freedom in surrender, lay it down and let it go."?

Answer: Just Be Held

Mark Hall spoke at one point to New Release Today, saying that God had given him the song a year and a half before he needed it most, because it was a song that especially moved him when he had to undergo surgery.
5. Which song has the beautiful line, "When the hand that bears the only scars and Heaven touch her face, and the last tears she'll ever cried are finally wiped away."?

Answer: Wedding Day

This song can be about our relationship with Jesus, or can be about the relationship between the bride and the church.
"Angel" is about a boy falling in love. "Spirit Wind" is also by Casting Crowns, though Newsboys has a song called "Spirit Thing". "I Can Only Imagine" is by MercyMe.
This song can be found on "Come to the Well".
6. Which song starts with, "Careless, I am reckless. I'm a wrong way traveling, slowly unraveling, shell of a man."?

Answer: The Altar and the Door

This song talks about how we allow our faith to fade when we have left church, even though at the altar, the right thing to do seems so obvious. This song is on an album titled after it, "The Altar and the Door".
7. Which song talks about how, "from where I'm standing Lord it's so hard to see where this is going," but "from where you're standing Lord, you see a grand design."?

Answer: Already There

This song is a great reminder that God sees our whole life in front of him, he is not worried, so we should trust him, and try not to worry ourselves.
This song is on the "Come to the Well" album and was written after Mark Hall, who writes most of the songs, and his wife adopted a girl from China.
8. Which song talks about three groups of people judging each other, keeping them apart. "The poets thought the dancers were shallow, and the soldiers thought the poets were weak."?

Answer: City On The Hill

This song later on makes the point, "But it was the rhythm of the dancers that gave the poets life. It was the spirit of the poets that gave the soldiers strength to fight."
We are the city on the hill, the light of the world, which Jesus reminds us in the Sermon on the Mount. If we let our small differences divides us, it is harder to be that light.
Mark Hall wrote this song after being inspired by 1 Corinthians 12, which talks about the Church as the body of Christ, and how we are all different but necessary.
9. Which song starts with, "I caught a glimpse in the rear view mirror, of an old familiar face. Blurry image coming in clearer, of a past I can't erase."?

Answer: My Own Worst Enemy

This song talks about having to always suffer temptations, and work on resisting attacks made by the devil.
"Born Again" and "Jesus Freak" are actually both by Newsboys, but they have a very similar message, especially in the first verse.
This song is on the "Come to the Well" album and was inspired by Romans 7.
10. Which song talks about how society needs to start focusing on inner appearances, saying, "Have we become so blind that we can't see, God's gotta change your heart before he changes a shirt."?

Answer: What This World Needs

This song centers on how we need something society cannot give us, a savior, a leader, a father of love, which is exactly what God is.
This song can be found on "The Altar and the Door" album, which debuted at Number Two on the US Billboard 200 chart.
