Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What song is this line from? "They fill the open air, and leave teardrops everywhere. You'd think me rude, but I would just stand and stare."

Answer: Fireflies

This song was released as a single off of "Ocean Eyes", and had huge success all over the world. It reached the top ten rank in ten countries, and number one in six other countries. The song has a basic message of catching fireflies in a young man's room when he cannot sleep.

But the fireflies also stand for an unwillingness to grow up, and wanting to keep onto those childhood memories.
2. The song "Hello Seattle" was originally on what album?

Answer: Of June

There is also a version of "Hello Seattle" on "Ocean Eyes", but the original version was on "Of June". As of 2010, neither version has been released as a single, but both are still very popular among the fans.
3. Adam Young wrote this song for his girlfriend that was away at the time. He would just "sit on the front porch all night, waist deep in thought." What song am I referring to?

Answer: Vanilla Twilight

"Oh, if my voice could reach back through the past, I'd whisper in your ear,
Oh darling, I wish you were here."

This song was also released as a single off "Ocean Eyes", but did not have as big a success as "Fireflies." It has become fairly well known in terms of a love song, however.
4. What goes in this blank? "So tell me darling do you wish we'd _______?"

Answer: fall in love

This is from "The Saltwater Room," which had a version on both "Maybe I'm Dreaming" and "Ocean Eyes". It is a duet between Adam Young and Breanne Duren, singing about when they see each other, how they feel at home with each other, and how they wish they'd fall in love.
5. Which song is this line from? "I'll be out of my mind, and you'll be out of ideas pretty soon."

Answer: Hot Air Balloon

"I'll be out of my mind, and you'll be out of ideas pretty soon,
So let's spend the afternoon in a cold hot air balloon."

This was originally released as a single song on iTunes, but was later released on the deluxe edition of "Ocean Eyes". Adam Young states this song is "a carefree song about adventure and exploration."
6. In the song "Rainbow Veins," is the phrase "rainbow veins" actually ever said?

Answer: No

"Cheer up and dry your damp eyes, and tell me when it rains.
And I'll blend up that rainbow above you, and shoot it through your veins."

This is from the album "Maybe I'm "Dreaming", which had big success for a self-released album, and even managed to reach the top 20 on the Billboard Electronic Music Album Chart.
7. There are only six lines in the song "Meteor Shower." Which of these is not one of them?

Answer: It hurts just to wake up

This line is from "Tidal Wave."

Did you know that Adam Young is not just Owl City? He has many other side projects, including Swimming with Dolphins and Sky Sailing. Many of these were started before he gained success as Owl City.
8. Owl City released a song specifically for "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole"?

Answer: True

This song is "To the Sky." It was released specifically for the soundtrack of "Legend of the Guardians," and is also available on iTunes. As it was written for "Legend of the Guardians," it is unlikely that it will ever appear on an Owl City album.
9. What phrase is missing here? "If you cut me I suppose I would bleed the color of the _________"

Answer: evening stars

"If you cut me I suppose I would bleed the color of the evening stars.
You can go anywhere you wish, 'cause I'll be there wherever you are."

This is from "The Technicolor Phase," which was released on "Maybe I'm Dreaming". It was also on the soundtrack for Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland."
10. If you took the first letters of every song on "Of June", which letter would you not have in that list?

Answer: B

The D is in "Designer Skyline," the C in "Captains and Cruise Ships," and the F in "Fuzzy Blue Lights." "Of June" was originally self-released by Adam Young on MySpace. But following the success of "Ocean Eyes", it was re-released by Universal Republic.
